Instructions

1- Prepare Saucepan:

  • Place a stainless steel saucepan on medium-high heat.
  • Pour in 500 ml water, a pinch of salt, and 1 tablespoon of olive oil.

2- Boil Mixture:

  • Heat the mixture until it starts boiling.
  • Add 100 grams of steel-cut oats or barley.

3- Cook Oats or Barley:

  • Stir occasionally and let it boil for approximately 15 minutes or until the soup thickens.

4- Add Milk:

  • Pour in 250 ml of milk, reduce the heat to medium-low.
  • Continue cooking for about 10 more minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

5- Serve and Garnish:

  • Remove from the heat, and serve the soup hot.
  • Garnish each serving with a sprinkle of crushed dried thyme, optionally add a drizzle of olive oil before serving.
