The definition of conversation varies from person. A conversation when defined in literal way is a spoken exchange of ideas, feelings, or information between two or more people, involving listening and responding. A true conversation is a, two-way exchange of words and thoughts. It is focused on mutual understanding, characterized by active listening. A genuine conversation involves sharing true thoughts and feelings, building trust, and moving beyond superficial chat to foster deeper connection and shared meaning. One of the important aspect of a good conversation is "active listening". It moves communication beyond just hearing words to truly understanding the speakers feelings and intent. This quality further helps in preventing issues from escalating and making people feel valued.

Active listening transforms a simple exchange into a meaningful interaction, benefiting both personal and professional spheres. Just recall the schools days or a teaching class that we have been attending since our childhood days, if we unable to listen to what is taught, we unable the grasp the knowledge. Likewise when we are in a meeting or any kind of training, listening always makes it very important. If we unable to listen properly then, there sre chances that we end up spoiling the subject. Active listening is not only limited to class room or the training center. It is very useful when two person is interacting.
Express yourself with words that matter
I know there was a phase when people don't want to listen to me. It was not because I was not respected, but it was something to do with my "pace of speech". I used to speech pretty fast, which does not allow people to grasp my words. It was not stammering, but sort of fast speaking. It was a tough phase in life, when I was ignored for any debate or any recitation at school. If people or audience unable to grasp my words, then speaking is not fruitful. This was when my English teacher pitch in and suggested me some techniques to control my flow of speech. I practiced that regularly, and started getting slow. It took good 2-3 years to put break on my pace and ultimately I began to be listened when attain the age of majority.
Listen in such a way that others love to speak to you
If you want to be listened it is important to speak some valuable words rather than speaking. Do remember, people are interested to listen to those whom they trust, they respect, and find interesting or knowledgeable, especially those who offer valuable insights, show empathy and tell good stories. Active listening helps us to understand others perspectives and feelings, promoting compassion. It allows us to gather complete information, leading to better decisions and solutions. Listening helps in creating a safe space where people feel truly heard, respected, and connected, even when discussing difficult topics.
Being truly listened to is a powerful gift that fulfills a deep human need for connection, making us feel seen, valued, and more in tune with yourself. When people start listening to us, it feels like finding a calm space where we are not just heard, but truly acknowledged, fostering clarity and mutual respect.
In good faith - Peace!!
