Instructions

1- Prep the Cake:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter, Pampered Chef Stoneware.

2- Mix Wet Ingredients:

  • In a large bowl, beat the unsalted butter using a KitchenAid mixer until creamy.

  • Stir in the milk, orange juice, cognac, orange zest, and vanilla extract.

3- Combine Dry Ingredients:

  • In another bowl, whisk together the cinnamon, cloves, baking powder, flour, and baking soda.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until combined.

4- Add Nuts & Bake:

  • Fold in the chopped walnuts.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

5- Prepare the Syrup:

  • In a saucepan, combine sugar, 1 cup of water, and honey.
  • Bring to a boil, then simmer for 10 minutes.

6- Assemble:

  • Once the cake is baked, remove it from the oven and pour the hot syrup evenly over.
  • Let it soak for several hours or overnight for best results.
