Instructions
1- Prep the Cake:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter, Pampered Chef Stoneware.
2- Mix Wet Ingredients:
- In a large bowl, beat the unsalted butter using a KitchenAid mixer until creamy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Stir in the milk, orange juice, cognac, orange zest, and vanilla extract.
3- Combine Dry Ingredients:
- In another bowl, whisk together the cinnamon, cloves, baking powder, flour, and baking soda.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until combined.
4- Add Nuts & Bake:
- Fold in the chopped walnuts.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
5- Prepare the Syrup:
- In a saucepan, combine sugar, 1 cup of water, and honey.
- Bring to a boil, then simmer for 10 minutes.
6- Assemble:
- Once the cake is baked, remove it from the oven and pour the hot syrup evenly over.
- Let it soak for several hours or overnight for best results.
