Everything started to move suddenly in that hotel as Zack finished getting up and unable to balance on his legs, he could only lean to the right side where the reception desk was, he held on tightly so his legs could get some stability while the shaking passed. The seconds seemed eternal and Zack closed his eyes from fear but his nerves did not let him keep them closed, it was something completely unexpected, his ears could hear the windows moving and some things hanging. After about 30 seconds of the telluric movement Zack realizes that a lady is talking to him, he looks at her and after a few seconds is when he can hear her well, it is the receptionist of the hotel. “Are you all right?” “Are you still shaking? I still feel things moving.” “Don't worry, it's all over now, we are in Chile and here there are always small tremors but there have been no earthquakes for many years. He then thinks that he is still a bit nervous about what happened on his trip and that he needs a rest. “Do you have any rooms available, preferably with a sea view.” “I see you are doing better, let me check if we have any left? We do indeed have one ocean view room left on the third floor.” Five minutes later the receptionist hands the room keys to Zack and he leaves to take a break and a bath. Under the shower Zack realizes that it is past lunchtime and hunger takes over his being. After the bath and getting dressed in the most comfortable clothes he could find Zack goes down to the front desk to look for information: “Excuse me, I would like to eat some good fish, where could I get some? I'm very hungry.” “In that case I recommend you go to the market, go to the left hand side and walk five blocks and you will see it there. You will quickly locate the market because there is a flower stall at the entrance.” “Excellent, it is close by. Thank you very much miss, see you later.” Zack without hesitation quickly leaves the hotel and starts walking towards the market. He doesn't know the street but he is confident in what the receptionist told him. The hunger is strong and the only thing Zack sees are fast food places, but he wants to enjoy new things because he feels he deserves it for the stress of the trip so he continues without hesitation and quickly looks at the flower stall. There he sees a lady in her 60's tending to said local along with other ladies of similar age and to make sure if that was the place he was looking for he asks her: “Good afternoon ladies, can you help me a little bit please. I am looking for the market to eat some fish.” The owner of the place answers him: “Good afternoon son, this is the market and over there you can eat a very fresh Reineta that my brother caught today, over there is my sister-in-law's restaurant.” “Thank you very much ma'am. See you later.” Like lightning fast Zack enters the place and without thinking much he sits on the chair closest to the kitchen and greets the waitress with a very obvious smile because of his hunger and without waiting for her to approach he greets her. “Good afternoon miss.” “Good afternoon sir, I'll bring you the menu.” “Actually at this moment I just want to eat fish, do you have fresh Reineta?” “Yes we have fresh Reineta, do you want it with rice, with potatoes or with salad?” “I want it with everything and please if you can bring me a drink I would appreciate it.” “A Coke, a Fanta or a Sprite?” “Water without ice please.” “Coming right up, I'll get you a Reineta with fries, rice and salad!” While Zack was waiting for his order he watches TV to distract himself. In the news he manages to observe what they are talking about the commemoration of an earthquake that affected the entire city of Tocopilla. The mayor says that it has been 13 years since that event and that he remembers clearly when he was near the market located in the center and describes how people were running out of there. At that a terrified looking gentleman says in a loud voice, “That day there were many injured, especially people who were working here in the market, they thought it was just a small tremor and that mistake almost cost them their lives.”. Zack opened his eyes with astonishment, in his life he had been unlucky enough to feel an earthquake and a few minutes ago he had just felt a tremor, in his head he could not imagine something so big. Then he sighs and looks towards the floor and closes his eyes to clear his mind but at that very moment he starts to feel a sound something serious and deep, then he starts to feel a vibration in his legs coming from the floor, his face changes and he gets completely scared and grabs the table without knowing what to do he looks towards the ceiling and shouts: “Noooooooooo, why?” The waitress comes over and says to him: “Sir please calm down, this is not an earthquake, this happens at the end of the month when the heavy duty trucks pass by on the avenue.” Zack turns to the window and sees a caravan of trucks passing by. He is filled with embarrassment and apologizes to everyone. He takes the cutlery and places the knife and fork on the fillet and makes a quick cut, the fish is cut almost effortlessly, the fork holds a piece of meat that emanates a little steam, Zack brings it close to his mouth, blows it a little to cool it down and then tastes it. “Mmmmmmmmmm it's delicious. Thank you very much.” Immediately he looks at all the dishes again, the 3 big fish fillets on the plate with the salad which itself has many colors, the rice and fries look hot, well plentiful and he notices that it has many sauces. He wastes no time and opens a tomato sauce and puts it on the fries and tastes them. “Woooooow how yummy. now what will I taste?” He decides to prepare the salad and squeezes half a lemon on the salad, adds oil and salt and begins to mix, another taste and the reaction is just as pleasant. Zack was delighted with the menu. Only one thought was in his head and that was to eat all of it no matter what. He squeezes more lemon back over the salad and fish and puts more sauce on the potatoes and rice, at which point he begins to dance along with his food and without haste but without pause he begins to stick his fork into the rice and then the potatoes, then the salad and finally the Reineta, Zack was possessed by the food, maybe by hunger but nothing could stop him, just until he reached the last piece of salad in his mouth, nice fresh lettuce to finish and then he decides to wipe his mouth with a napkin, fortunately it wasn't dirty and neither were his clothes. “Absolutely perfect and wonderful!” At that moment he lifts the glass of water to thank the cook and notices that there is no one in the restaurant, this one says: “Miss, are you over there?” At that he gets up and sees the waitress returning from outside the market somewhat nervous and she says to him: “Sir, are you all right? I spoke to you while you were eating and you didn't listen to me and apparently you didn't realize that a very strong tremor started, maybe earthquake but you continued eating without stopping. Everyone who was in the restaurant left the market just in case and fortunately nothing happened to you, in one part of the market even the roof fell down, did you notice?” “No way! Really, you're not exaggerating?” “Look over there and you'll see part of the ceiling fell down.” “Well since I didn't feel anything I can't say it bothered me hehehehehehehe so I better be thankful that I haven't yet been able to fully experience an earthquake or whatever that was and I think it was thanks to your wonderful food. I took this, I don't know how much it is but I am very happy for the service and the food. I hope it's enough including the tip.” The waitress is very astonished and nervous with Zack's words, she looks at the money received and with her mouth open, she gives him a nod of approval, laughing a little bit, saying: “See you soon.” Our protagonist decides to return to the hotel, very satisfied, happy and particularly calm. On the way he sees people talking nervously about the earthquake, the same people who had hardly worried after the previous tremor. Arriving at the hotel he finds the receptionist talking on the phone about what happened, noticing that she was still a little nervous, Zack asks her for the keys, laughs and goes to his room. Todo comenzó a moverse súbitamente en ese hotel mientras Zack se terminaba de levantar y sin poder lograr quedar equilibrado con sus piernas, solo pudo echarse hacia el lado derecho donde estaba el mueble de la recepción, se agarró firmemente para que sus piernas pudieran conseguir algo de estabilidad mientras pasaba el temblor. Los segundos parecían eternos y Zack cerraba los ojos del miedo pero los nervios no lo dejaban tenerlos cerrados, era algo completamente inesperado, sus oídos escuchaban las ventanas moverse y golpes de algunas cosas colgadas. Luego de unos 30 segundos del movimiento telúrico Zack se da cuenta que una señorita le está hablando, este la mira y luego de unos segundos es cuando puede escucharla bien, es la recepcionista del hotel. “¿Se encuentra bien?” “¿Sigue temblando? Yo siento aún que las cosas se mueven.” “No se preocupe, ya todo pasó, estamos en Chile y aquí siempre hay pequeños temblores pero hace muchos años que no hay terremotos. Este fue un temblor pequeño.” ![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmepi18vYiP2YxxLPbVSCWzcT4XKHjbDkVX9uMySkbXmzN/2vistaalaplaya.jpg) Zack estaba algo asombrado por la tranquilidad de la recepcionista y escéptico por sus palabras pero se dio cuenta de que ya no estaba temblando y no había ruido ni escándalo en la calle, se asomó por una ventana y la gente estaba como si nada hubiese pasado. Piensa entonces que sigue algo nervioso por lo ocurrido en su viaje y que necesita un descanso. “¿Tiene alguna habitación disponible?, de preferencia con vista al mar.” “Ya veo que está mejor, déjeme revisar si nos queda alguna... Efectivamente nos queda una habitación con vista al mar en el tercer piso.” Cinco minutos después la recepcionista entrega las llaves de la habitación a Zack y este se retira a tomar un descanso y un baño. Debajo de la ducha Zack se da cuenta que ya ha pasado la hora de comer y el hambre se apodera de su ser. Luego del baño y arreglarse con la ropa más cómoda que encontró Zack baja a la recepción a buscar información: “Disculpe, me gustaría comer un buen pescado, ¿Dónde podría conseguirlo? Tengo mucha hambre.” “En ese caso le recomiendo ir al mercado, vaya a mano izquierda y camine cinco cuadras que allí lo verá. Ubicará rápido el mercado porque hay un puesto de flores en la entrada.” “Excelente, queda cerca. Muchas gracias señorita, hasta luego.” Zack sin dudar sale rápidamente del hotel y comienza a caminar hacia el mercado. No conoce la calle pero va confiado en lo que le dijo la recepcionista. El hambre es fuerte y lo único que Zack observa son locales de comida rápida, pero él quiere disfrutar de cosas nuevas porque siente que lo merece por el estrés del viaje así que sigue sin dudar y rápidamente mira el puesto de flores. Allí ve a una señora de unos 60 años atendiendo dicho local junto con otras señoras de edad parecida y para asegurarse si ese era el lugar que buscaba le pregunta: “Buenas tardes señoras, me ayudan un poquito por favor. Estoy buscando el mercado para comer algún pescado.” La dueña del local le contesta: “Buenas tardes hijo, este es el mercado y por allá puede comerse una Reineta bien fresca que mi hermano pescó hoy, por allá está el restaurante de mi cuñada.” “Muchas gracias señora. Hasta luego.” Cómo rayo veloz Zack entra al local y sin pensarlo mucho se sienta en la silla más cercana a la cocina y saluda a la camarera con una sonrisa muy obvia por el hambre y sin esperar que ella se acercara él le saluda. “Buenas tardes señorita.” “Buenas tardes caballero, ya le traigo el menú.” “En realidad en este momento solo quiero comer pescado. ¿Tiene Reineta fresca?” “Si tenemos Reineta fresca, ¿la quiere con arroz, con papas o con ensalada?” “La quiero con todo y por favor si puede traerme una bebida se lo agradeceré” “¿Una Coca-Cola, una Fanta o una Sprite?” “Mejor agua sin hielo por favor.” “Ya se la traigo, ¡sale una Reineta con papas fritas, arroz y ensalada!” Mientras Zack esperaba su pedido ve la televisión para distraerse. En la noticia logra observar qué están hablando de la conmemoración de un terremoto que afectó a toda la ciudad de Tocopilla. El alcalde dice que ya han pasado 13 años de ese evento y que recuerda claramente cuando él estaba cerca del mercado ubicado en el centro y describe como la gente salía corriendo de allí. En eso un señor de mirada aterradora dice en voz alta, “Ese día hubo muchos heridos, sobre todo gente que estaba trabajando aquí en el mercado, pensaron que solo era un pequeño temblor y ese error casi les cuesta la vida.”. Zack abría los ojos con asombro, en su vida había tenido la mala suerte de sentir algún terremoto y hace unos minutos apenas había sentido un temblor, en su cabeza no podía imaginar algo tan grande. Luego suspira y mira hacia el piso y cierra los ojos para despejar la mente pero en ese justo momento comienza a sentir un sonido algo grave y profundo, luego comienza a sentir una vibración en sus piernas que vienen del piso, su cara cambia y se asusta completamente y se agarra de la mesa sin saber que hacer mira hacia el techo y grita: “Noooooooo, ¿por qué?” La camarera se acerca y le dice: “Señor por favor cálmese, esto no es un terremoto, esto ocurre a finales del mes cuando pasan los camiones de carga pesada por la avenida.” Zack voltea para la ventana y ve una caravana de camiones pasando. Se llena de vergüenza y pide disculpas a todos. Unos minutos después la camarera le entrega su plato de comida y le dice: “Buen provecho, que lo disfrute.” ![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmWY56QNsBjEQw9npz8uxKbLQscbKpfvbrJ7MwBB2m63t9/3comida.jpg) Zack, un poco confundido había olvidado el hambre pero luego de unos segundos ésta volvió más fuerte al ver todo su pedido en la mesa y observar bien el pescado y sentir su rico olor, comienza a olvidar rápidamente todo lo malo. Toma los cubiertos y coloca el cuchillo y el tenedor sobre el filete y hace un corte rápidamente, el pescado se corta casi sin esfuerzo, el tenedor sostiene un pedazo de carne que emana un poco de vapor, Zack lo acerca a su boca, lo sopla un poco para enfriarlo y luego lo prueba. “Mmmmmmmm está delicioso. Muchas gracias.” Acto seguido vuelve a ver todo los platos, los 3 grandes filetes de pescado en el plato con la ensalada que a su vez tiene muchos colores, el arroz y las papas fritas se ven calientes, bien abundantes y se da cuenta que tiene muchas salsas. No pierde el tiempo y abre una salsa de tomate y les pone a las papas fritas y las prueba. “Woooooow que rico. ¿Ahora que probaré?” Decide preparar la ensalada y aprieta medio limón sobre la ensalada, le coloca aceite y sal y comienza a mezclar, otra probadita y la reacción es igual de placentera. Zack estaba encantado con el menú. Un solo pensamiento estaba en su cabeza y era comer todo eso sin importar lo demás. Vuelve a exprimir más limón sobre la ensalada y el pescado y le coloca más salsa a las papas y al arroz, en ese momento comienza a danzar junto con su comida y sin apuro pero sin pausa comienza a meter el tenedor en el arroz y luego en las papas, luego en la ensalada y finalmente en la Reineta, Zack estaba poseído por la comida, tal vez por el hambre pero nada lo podía detener, solo hasta llegar al último pedazo de ensalada en la boca, lechuga bien fresca para terminar y luego decide limpiarse la boca con una servilleta, afortunadamente no estaba sucia y sus ropas tampoco. “Absolutely perfect and wonderful!” En ese momento levanta el vaso de agua para agradecer a la cocinera y se percata de que no hay nadie en el restaurante, este dice: “Señorita, ¿está por allí?” En eso se levanta y ve a la camarera regresando desde afuera del mercado algo nerviosa y está le dice: “Señor, ¿Se encuentra bien? Le hablé mientras estaba comiendo y no me escuchó y al parecer no se dio cuenta que comenzó un temblor muy fuerte, quizás terremoto pero usted siguió comiendo sin parar. Todos los que estaban en el restaurante salieron del mercado por si acaso y afortunadamente a usted no le pasó nada, en una parte del mercado incluso se cayó el techo, ¿se dio cuenta?” “No way! ¿En serio? ¿No estará exagerando?” “Mire para allá y verá parte del techo caído.” “Bueno como no sentí nada no puedo decir que me molestó jejejejeje así que mejor agradezco que aún no he podido experimentar plenamente un terremoto o lo que haya sido eso y creo que fue gracias a su comida maravillosa. Tomé esto, no sé cuánto es pero estoy muy feliz por el servicio y la comida. Espero que sea suficiente incluida la propina.” La camarera se queda muy asombrada y nerviosa con las palabras de Zack, mira el dinero recibido y con la boca abierta, le hace un gesto de aprobación, riendo un poquito, diciendo: “Hasta pronto.” Nuestro protagonista decide regresar al hotel, muy satisfecho, feliz y particularmente tranquilo. En el camino ve a la gente hablando con nervios por el movimiento telúrico ocurrido, la misma gente que casi ni se había preocupado luego del temblor anterior ocurrido. Al llegar al hotel encuentra a la recepcionista hablando por teléfono sobre lo ocurrido notando que aún estaba un poco nerviosa, Zack le pide las llaves, se ríe y se va a su habitación. Ya sentado sobre la cama se quita los zapatos para poder descansar y quizás tomar una pequeña siesta. “Pensar en que ha sido un día muy intenso, que lo peor ya fue superado y vaya de qué manera.” Apaga las luces, saca unos pequeños audífonos para escuchar música relajante para dormitar mejor con un volumen agradable, nada escandalosa, luego pulsa play en su celular, cierra los ojos y se relaja. ![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmbnNhvVwjTbxheoQsYZxDKTan1zawp7B5P3r2JwQZkpYS/4atardecer.jpg) Dos minutos después se empieza a escuchar una sirena de bomberos y Zack abre los ojos, unos segundos después siente que tocan la puerta y sin esperar que abran escucha que gritan desde el otro lado: “Don Zack por favor apúrese para salir, tenemos una alerta de Tsunami, necesitamos evacuar el hotel.” ## Fin.
