Since @manujune was diagnosed with lukemia almost two years ago, my wife has not been able to teach.
We had a tacit agreement: she would take full time care of her while I worked.
We were able to make ends meet for a while, but the inflation of the last months has made it almost imposible to cover basic expenses.
Now that @manujune is out of danger, she's back in the job market and i for a second gig on weekends.
After sending CVs to different schools, she got a couple of calls for interviews today. The two schools are far apart, so we left early to beat traffic and be on time for both.
Though job being on time in this city!

It rained last night and it was drizzling when we went out. Additional, some streets were blocked because of a marathon.

They were celebrating La Divina Pastora, one of the many Virgin Mary's advocations.
We were really impressed at the amount of people participating and the diversity of participants. Men and women of all ages, many of them not runners at all.

The traffic was terrible because of this.
It is already bad on an average day.

We walked about six blocks looking for a bus stop where buses were passing

The rout they established for the marathon was bigger than we thought.

It covered many streets. Long lines everywhere; people walking more than usual and the rain was not helping.

We had never been to the place where the first school was located. So, when we finally caught a bus, My wife asked the bus collector for directions. They said they would pass by near the área, but then, they took a different rout.

The bus left us too far from our destination and it was raining harder. We had to go back to the previous avenue and catch another bus.

We crossed this avenue.

Luckily, and probably because of the rain, there were not many people on the bus (getting the chance to sit down on a bus here is a blessing).

We were still a few blocks from the school, so we started walking.
This papaya plant growing on the sidewalk called my attention (speak of resilience).

We asked an old man for directions and he sent us down and around a street to the the right.

We found ourselves facing what seemed to be a dead-end street. We asked an old lady who was walking ahead of us and she told us to follow her.
I must confess for a moment I felt nervous. I did not see how we could get the street where the school was located, especially when she led us through narrow alleys.

We played it cool and trusted the good people we still have (especially old timers).

1000587415.jpg

The narrow alleys became a wider street and we breathed again!

1000587421.jpg

We made it on time to the first destination!

I was impressed at how big this school looked.

Interview was good, but my wife wanted to have all the info possible from other options before she took a decision.

On our way back, we stopped by this cool abandoned car by the alley which now was adorned by cute cats. As it usually happens to me when I take pictures in the streets, elements in the background align in fucked-up ways!

We waited for a bus back here.

We made numbers and we still had to take another bus to the second job interview.
In total, it was about $2 and yet that was a lot for one day of transportation on a limited budget.

Second job interview went well too. Less hours, closer to home and similar pay. There is still a third options my wife is waiting for confirmación. It would not be teaching, but it could be even better.
If she can't land that, then this teaching job may be her choice. 🙏

It was frustrating to confirm that a full time teacher, even in the capital of the country, working for a prívate institution, will not make more that $250 a month. This in a country where basic good basket costs more than $500 (no rent, medical expenses or other expenses included).

We took the last bus of the day home at about noon. It was not raining now and, despite long walks, traffic, etc., she had made it on time for both interviews.
