Sluice Box, Bird Feed - Monday
2 comments
Early in the morning UPS dropped off my new 36" sluice box and stand. The boys were super stoked and I am pretty happy to have it. I got it setup and the legs and we took it down to the creek to see how it would look. The water is ICE cold as it comes off the snow melt on the mountain about 14 miles away. I didn't get any shots of our test as I was trying to warm my hands.

It seems like it will work quite well as I was able to get an even flow of water over the riffles and the little test bucket of dirt got dumped on. It cleared out like it was supposed to and gave us clear areas below each riffle with material sucked in under each riffle.
The part now is to wait for the water level to drop some so the boys can get to the material by the big creek where it pours out from the tunnel into a pool. The sand collects there and will be the stuff for them to run.

In the afternoon we headed north to Kaniksu feeds so I could pick up more bird feed. They have a free range layer poultry feed that I get which is not as high a protein as the mega layer but also costs less.

We watched Gonzaga get their asses handed to them which was a bit sad to see after how good their season went to that point. Today I am heading back north to see if we can get Art's sailboat in the water for her maiden voyage. Need to replace motor mount bolts and it should be good to go.
