Se ha jugado un poco más de la mitad del round robin, la cual enfrentan a los equipos clasificados por dos cupos en la final, de la liga venezolana de béisbol profesional (LVBP). Aunque en béisbol nada puede predecirse en un torneo corto de ésta naturaleza, pareciera haber una tendencia irrefutable hacia dos realidades: tres equipos en posición cómoda para pelear esos dos cupos, representados por los rosters de Caribes de Anzoátegui, Cardenales de Lara y Águilas del Zulia; y otros dos conjuntos que no pueden darse el lujo de perder otro partido en la ronda que nos ocupa, los cuales son Navegantes del Magallanes y Bravos de Margarita. Dicho esto, la verdad creo firmemente el poco chance de los dos últimos mencionados. A Magallanes no les ha funcionado el pitcheo que tan bien trabajó para meterlos en ésta instancia y a los Bravos les ha fallado la ofensiva, sin ningún atenuante.

We’re past the halfway mark of the round robin, the stage where the squads battle for the two golden tickets to the LVBP final. And even though in pelota you can’t ever lock down predictions in a short tourney like this, the vibe points to two clear realities: three clubs sitting in a comfy spot to scrap for those tickets—Caribes de Anzoátegui, Cardenales de Lara, and Águilas del Zulia—and two lineups that just can’t afford to drop another game in this stretch, Navegantes del Magallanes and Bravos de Margarita. Truth be told, I don’t see much chance for those last two. Magallanes’ pitching, the same arms that carried them into this phase, hasn’t clicked, and the Bravos’ bats have gone ice-cold, no excuses.

Dos premios de la temporada 2025-2026, fueron entregados luego de nuestra

el pitcher del año (Premio "Carrao Bracho") se lo llevó el lanzador abridor de los Navegantes del Magallanes (no podía ser de otra manera, ya que la nave lideró las estadísticas colectivas de pitcheo), con un total de 59 de 60 votos al primer lugar. El zurdo dejó registro de 5 victorias y 1 derrotas con efectividad de 3.04 en 68.0 entradas con 58 abanicados. Sólo le faltó liderar la casilla de ponches para llevarse la triple corona de lanzadores. Por segundo año consecutivo la nave turca acapara el premio (el año pasado fue para Junior Guerra). Por otro lado, el manager del año (premio Alfonso “Chico” Carrasquel) no fue otro que el dominicano Yadier Molina, quien recogió al Magallanes en el fondo de la tabla y lo proyectó hasta el tercer lugar para clasificar dramáticamente a la postemporada.

Ayer, las Águilas del Zulia remontaron un marcador de tres carreras de ventaja en la apertura del sexto capítulo y terminaron haciendo la carrera de la diferencia en el noveno episodio, para ganar a los Cardenales de Lara con pizarra de 4-3 y bajarlos del liderato del round robin. El abridor rapaz Delvis Alegre aceptó 3 rayitas en los dos primeros episodios y el bullpen vino a rescatarle, encabezado por Wilfredo Boscán con tres episodios en blanco, para lanzar el resto del juego sin permitir carreras. El héroe de los zulianos fue Andrés Chaparro, quien con un cuadrangular empató las acciones de un partido que ya iba por una sola vía. Un costosísimo error de Luisangel Acuña en el noveno, derivó en la carrera de la victoria para el equipo de la tierra por el sol amada. Con la victoria, las rapaces se mantienen pegaditas a un juego en el 3er. lugar de la tabla y los Cardenales están a medio juego detrás del líder.

Yesterday, Águilas del Zulia clawed back from a three-run hole in the top of the sixth and ended up plating the go-ahead run in the ninth, taking down Cardenales de Lara 4-3 and knocking them off the round robin lead. Rapaz starter Delvis Alegre gave up three early tallies in the first two frames, but the bullpen came in to bail him out, led by Wilfredo Boscan’s three shutout innings, and the rest of the relievers kept the scoreboard clean. The hero for the zulianos was Andrés Chaparro, who blasted a game-tying homer in what had looked like a one-way contest. Then a costly miscue by Luisangel Acuña in the ninth opened the door for the winning run for the squad from la tierra del sol amada. With the W, the rapaces stay just one game shy of third place, while the Cardenales now sit half a game behind the leader.

Por último, Caribes de Anzoátegui desató toda la furia posible con un juego de 17 inatrapables, para darle una felpa de 8 carreras a 4, a los alicaídos Bravos de Margarita. El abridor caribeño Eduardo Salazar transitó casi 5 episodios, aceptando 3 imparables, una carrera, ponchando a 5 contrarios y regalando 4 boletos. Sólo en el noveno episodio pestañeó el bullpen, encajando tres carreras cuando el daño ya estaba hecho. Diego Infante y Antonio Piñero fueron los líderes ofensivos de Caribes al impulsar par de carreras cada uno. Con la victoria, Caribes asalta el liderazgo del round robin, mientras que los Bravos prácticamente se está despidiendo de toda posibilidad. Los juegos para hoy en horario nocturno son: Caribes-Bravos y Navegantes-Cardenales, con la misión para Magallanes y Bravos de ganar si no desean despedirse de toda posibilidad. Caribeño starter Eduardo Salazar worked almost five frames, allowing just three knocks, one run, striking out five and handing out four walks. Only in the ninth did the bullpen blink, coughing up three runs when the damage was already done. Diego Infante and Antonio Piñero carried the Caribes’ offense, each driving in a pair. With the win, Caribes storm into the round robin lead, while the Bravos are basically waving goodbye to any shot left. Tonight’s night games line up Caribes-Bravos and Navegantes-Cardenales, with Magallanes and Bravos on a must-win mission if they don’t want to kiss their chances goodbye.
