Killington 2026, Day 1 -- Actifit Report Card: January 30, 2026

Blustering winds and below freezing temps kept a bunch of people from coming up to Killington Mountain to get an extra day in on Friday before the busy weekend. Fine by me as our party of 6 mostly stuck to the Skyeship gondola for 5 runs to start the day. It did mean constantly getting out of our skis at the bottom of every run, but it was a small price to pay for the comfort of taking the ride up to Skye Peak with comfy, wind-protected seats.

In the afternoon, the sun came out a bit to warm up the mountain and we found some soft snow skiing the trees once the senior citizens went in early. Im not sure how the FitBit manages my steps when I'm out skiing, but I did remember to activate the ski mode on my watch before I started and a pause for lunch.

I certainly covered a bunch of ground. For such a late start (we only hit first chair at 11.15) we still got in 12 runs on the day. Granted, the Needle's Eye runs aren't the longest, but it was a good first day of three on the long ski weekend trip with the family.

Gotta finish the post by showing some love to the tasty meal to finish the day. Starter of two roast lamb chops with Greek trimmings and a main of scallops served over green peas with crispy prosciutto. Not pictured is the coffee creme brulee I inhaled. Ready to ski off the calories tomorrow. Until next time...
