Gathering of Artsy Youths (Part 1)

On a winter afternoon, the city is wrapped in cool, slightly chilly air. A group of artsy youths meet up at the entrance of an exhibition hall. Gatherings like this never really need a clear purpose. All it takes is a simple, “There’s a pretty cool creative market lately—wanna go check it out?” and the plan is set.
My friends and I follow the crowd inside. Once we enter the venue, we’re greeted by all kinds of booths and creations, each with its own style. There are so many interesting stalls we want to check out, but the place is packed. Even if we try to squeeze our way in, there’s barely any space in front of the booths. If we stop and wait, we end up blocking the flow of people, so in the end, we just browse casually and go with the flow.
Everyone knows how important a good name can be. In a crowded place like this, when we’re not familiar with the brands, any booth with a fun or eye-catching name immediately grabs our attention and names like “Fat Orange Cat in the Park”, “Sexy Sausage Dog”, or “Lucky Purple Doll”. We’ll squeeze our way over to take a look. Honestly, most booths sell pretty similar things: stationery, planners, illustrated trinkets, toy figures. These design-focused items might not be very practical, but they’re full of emotional value. And when you see people around you buying like crazy, it’s easy to get dragged into it and buy something too. It’s honestly a dangerous place for your wallet.
At one booth, we saw the owner take the kind of school notebooks we used in elementary school and redesign them as nostalgic products. They turned old homework books into stylish notebooks. I could totally imagine a college student pulling one of these out in class and instantly getting looks of surprise, curiosity, or even envy from classmates. The emotional value is completely maxed out.
At almost every large creative exhibition, you’ll also find board game booths, and they’re always crowded. Most people stop by to try out new games, especially families with kids. If a child tries a game and likes it, they’ll usually bug their parents to buy it. Compared to mobile or computer games, board games are less addictive, and many help improve thinking skills, communication, interaction, and emotional management. The biggest benefit is that they bring families closer together. That’s why parents usually end up spending a lot of money at board game booths.
