Morning coffee in front of a plant

We are starting a new week of work and, above all, a new week of my studies, where every day that passes comes with haste, comes with intention, and above all, comes to challenge me and thus bring out the best in me. I started the day very early, and what better way to start than by serving a cup of coffee from a brand that we really like, as it is smooth, brown in color, and tastes very good. Therefore, that first ritual of drinking a cup of coffee announces that a new opportunity is about to begin.

The aroma of that drink rises and seems to bring order to the internal chaos: the pending tasks, the memories of the weekend, the expectations that have not yet taken shape, and it gives me the energy I so badly need to face the whole day, where the hours pass slowly and are eternal.

In front of my mug, I have a small red flower plant that we planted a few months ago and is just starting to bloom, giving me the feeling that everything is going well. Just as it shines, so do we. What's more, the weather feels kinder, clearer, as if it were granting me a few minutes before demanding that I get moving and take those first steps to catch a ride to work, while at the same time rushing me, since there are still a few sips left in that cup to finish.

That was a coffee that remained somewhat pure, strong because it was the first of the morning, and that's why coffee not only wakes up the body, but also lifts the spirits so you can give your best. We often need a foothold to get started on something and a small anchor to remind us that starting over doesn't always require big decisions. Sometimes all it takes is a hot sip and a conscious pause, and that's an internal struggle that one creates and thinks about while drinking coffee. As the dark color rests in the cup, the mind understands that the day will be whatever one allows it to be: intense, slow, challenging, or serene, since one is practically the one who decides to slow down or move forward.

So, I start my day sitting in front of a plant, with my backpack beside me and my cup of coffee in my hand, ready to finish it and make everything more bearable and ready for whatever comes my way. Because as long as there is that first coffee, there will always be a space to start again with calm and purpose, and even more so on those days when my country, Venezuela, is not in the best condition, and having a cup of coffee every morning is something to be thankful for.
