Hello, people of the Internet, everything alright? Today I want to make a post not as extensive as I usually do, however, although I won't talk about the technical level (because I'm here to complain and those aspects in these films (except in the last one) are not usually the reason why I hate them) but I will extend a little bit talking about the adaptation as such, stories and scripts that are usually the problem. >Hola, gente de Internet. ¿Todo bien? Hoy quiero hacer un post no tan extenso como acostumbro, sin embargo, aunque no hablaré a nivel técnico (porque me vengo a quejar y esos aspectos en estas películas (menos en la última) no suelen ser el motivo de porque las odio) si me extenderé un poco hablando de la adaptación como tal, historias y guiones que son por lo general el problema.

I'll start by talking about Paul S Anderson's Resident Evil adaptations. They suck, I'll calm down... this director only took the name of the videogame to guarantee a blockbuster at the box office and that's it, the rest is history. While we have Umbrella as an evil and important pharmaceutical corporation (a plus) we have a protagonist out of nowhere who literally steals the show, that's how the real protagonists are according to the original story: Jill Valentine, Chris Redfield, Leon Kennedy, Clair Redfield, Barry, etc are relegated to secondary characters, the same with Carlos and the Umbrella mercenaries and as the movies progress, it gets further and further away until it becomes something totally different, even a dystopian world that does not exist is painted at the end (in the video game saga the civilization did not fall).

SON UNA PORQUERÍA, ya me calmo... este director solo tomó el nombre del videojuego para garantizar un exitazo en taquilla y ya está, el resto pasó a la historia. Not to mention the plot holes the size of a house that, when you are aware of them, don't let you enjoy the plot. Those for example like at the end of movie 2 where Carlos and Jill "in disguise" take Alice out of the Umbrella facility and this "evil scientist" who knows who they are, lets them go, they take the other scientist's daughter in the car but we know nothing about these characters in the following movies (except Alice of course who is the main karma and why this saga is so bad).

Continuing with this universe, let's talk about the result of a very big ego and little love for the work: Resident Evil Welcome to Raccon City. The director of this film insulted Anderson's work by saying that he would teach him how to make a film of the video game saga, and that his work would "not be cosplayed in a movie" we all believed him and thought he meant that the only good thing in Anderson's films were the characterisations of the characters, right? When we saw the trailer, we realised how wrong we were, yuck. What this director really meant was that he wouldn't use "cosplayers" but actors who were completely different from the characters they were supposed to play, they didn't resemble anything in appearance or personality, although this time the main characters were the ones from the saga, their personalities were not the same, there were relationships that had nothing to do with each other, it was frustrating to see. We have for example one of the best police rookies (at the time the film is set) Leon S Kenny being a total idiot, incompetent and as a kind of "comic relief" that generates cringe.

>Siguiendo con este universo, vamos a hablar del resultado de un ego muy grande y poco amor por el trabajo: Resident Evil Bienvenidos a Raccon City. El director de esta película insultó el trabajo de Anderson diciendo que le enseñaría a como se debe hacer una película de la saga de videojuegos, y que su trabajo cito "no sería cosplayers en una película" todos le creímos y pensamos que se refería a que lo único bueno en las películas de Anderson eran las caracterizaciones de los personajes ¿verdad?. Cuando vimos el tráiler, nos dimos cuenta de lo equivocados que estábamos, un asco. Lo que realmente quiso decir este director es que él no usaría "Cosplayers" sino de actores que se alejaban completamente de los personajes que debían interpretar, no se parecían en nada ni en apariencia ni tampoco en personalidad, aunque en esta ocasión los personajes principales eran los de la saga, sus personalidades no eran las mismas, había relaciones que nada que ver, es frustrante de ver. Although the story is a little bit more faithful, it chose the wrong parts of the story to develop. It should have used the plots of Resident Evil 0 and Resident evil 1 that deals with the misadventures of the B.R.A.V.O and the A.L.F.A team of the S.T.A.R.S in the Spencer mansion, however, they chose the events of RE1 and RE2 which do not happen in the mansion but in the streets of Raccoon City and with days or weeks of difference, that's why the whole plot is very strange. In short, it sucks, don't watch it 🤣🤣

Talking about another one of my favourite videogame sagas, Silent Hill (saga that I'm starting on my Youtube channel by the way) is a Survival Horror and psychological horror game, it has unique elements like the foggy town or the particular soundtrack that help with the terror handling, it's an excellent game with deep stories that make you analyse and over think some things, the movie, although it's not a crap, it's not a good adaptation, that's why it's in this small list

To begin with, the change of the protagonist's gender bothered me a lot since in the game the protagonist is Harry Mason, a widowed father who does everything he can to raise his little daughter alone and who also has to cross the entire cursed town of Silent Hill to find her when she gets lost. Usually we always see the "mother's love" always immeasurable but we rarely see the representation of widowed or single fathers who do the impossible to raise their children well, I liked that in the game and they took it away in the film.

>Para empezar, el cambio de género del protagonista me molestó mucho ya que en el juego el protagonista es Harry Mason, un padre viudo que hace todo lo posible por criar a su pequeña hija solo y que además debe cruzar todo el pueblo maldito de Silent Hill para hallarla cuando se le pierde. Also, there are creatures that are just there for the sake of being there like the nurses which are really products of the male characters' lust or Piramid Head which is exclusive to James Sunderlnd, it's the representation of his guilt so it doesn't make sense for them to appear with this protagonist, The change of the girl's name also annoyed me, it makes that, whether you like it or not, you don't connect with the character (even more when you already know how the videogame goes). Not to mention that the story shows us several sects in tone to the same "god" and in the film only appears the one of Samael and it seems a weird mixture of all of them. The story is also out of line and also has very big plot holes that do not allow you to enjoy the film well, not to mention that, like the Resident Evil saga, the plot becomes more absurd and ridiculous as the saga progresses.

>Además, hay criaturas que están ahí por estar como las enfermeras las cuales realmente son productos de la lujuria de los personajes masculinos o Piramid Head el cuál es exclusivo de James Sunderlnd, es la representación de su culpa así que no tiene sentido que aparezcan con esta protagonista, el cambio de nombre de la niña también me fastidio, hace que, quiera que no, no conectes con el personaje (más cuando ya sabes como va el videojuego) Eso sin contar con que la historia nos muestra varias sectas en tono a un mismo "dios" y en la película solo aparece la de Samael y parece una mescolanza rara de todas. La historia también se va de linea y además tiene agujeros de guion muy grandes que no te permiten disfrutar bien la película, sin contar con que, como la saga de Resident Evil, conforme avanza la saga se va volviendo más absurda y ridícula la trama

As an independent film (at least the first one) it's entertaining, it has some good horror moments like the creature in the bathroom, but as an adaptation it sucks and I don't like it.
