We are finishing the last Sunday of the month, the eve of carnival, day 716 since the #quarantine was announced in #Venezuela due to the #Covid19 #pandemic. In several locations they have been preparing for the holiday, it really seems that we were not in quarantine or that social distancing or the use of a mask or alcohol gel were being respected, in short, that it seemed that all security measures have been thrown in the garbage to put on costumes and masks, to celebrate regardless of the consequences.

For a people with Latin roots, so given to celebrating and partying or making fun of all things (including misfortunes), this quarantine and limitation of parties, celebrations and gatherings of people has really been hell, but is that if they respected minimum biological safety measures, I don't think it would be so bad, but I know that they will not respect them, at least I have to wish that we will be "lucky" and our count of cases of contagion and cases of death will not increase too much in the next few weeks.

I see these #carnivals stained with the news about the invasion war in Ukraine, something that is happening on another continent, and it seems that we are very far away, however, our government is particularly committed to this warlike situation, and we are getting into a problem like never before in our history, look that if we step wrong, we can end up with an international situation more complicated than the one we already have.

I review what we have in #history, and I find that: Today, in 1936, the physiologist Iván Pávlov dies. Russian physician and physiologist, distinguished with the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine (1904) and the Order of the Legion of Honor (1915), he is well remembered for his development of the concept of the conditioned reflex. This contribution in linking the specific behavior of a mammal with a stimulus was what started the whole #behavioral study movement of the human psyche, defined that we cannot study the mind, that it is not something material, but we can study the behaviors as a reflection of the mind and also the interrelation between our nervous system and behavior, showing that living beings do not really decide in many circumstances, there are a good number of occasions when our hormones and our physiology leads us to do some things, and then it is our reason that strives to make rational excuses (or rationalize) the things we have done or chosen.

That of wanting to take the study of #psychology to something more material and observable is quite scientific, but his approach within the materialist current of science is understandable. In more recent times, the behaviorist current has had different criticisms in the psychological and psychiatric application, but it has also shown that it is still an effective tool when used precisely in those things that are within its field of focus. Even the famous #NLP Neolinguistic Programming can well point to its roots in this current of psychology, where to change the person, you have to change their behavior, in the case of NLP they take it one step further, coming to put things almost in a magical and metaphysical kingdom, where wishes are made and the Universe fulfills them.

I think that if Pavlov read those ideas, he would have a seizure or a heart attack, at the very least.

Estamos terminando el último domingo del mes, víspera de #Carnaval, día 716 desde que se anunció la #cuarentena en #Venezuela por la #pandemia de #Covid19. En varias localidades se han estado preparando para la festividad, ya de verdad que pareciera que no estuviéramos en cuarentena ni que se estuviera respetando el distanciamiento social o el uso de mascarilla o de gel alcoholado, en fin, que pareciera que todas las medidas de seguridad biológica se han arrojado a la basura para poder ponerse los disfraces y mascaras, para celebrar sin que importen las consecuencias.

Para un pueblo de raíz latina, tan dado a celebrar y hacer fiesta o chiste de todas las cosas (incluidas las desgracias), de verdad que ha sido un infierno esto de la cuarentena y la limitación de fiestas, celebraciones y concentraciones de gente, pero es que si respetaran medidas mínimas de seguridad biológica no creo que fuera tan malo, pero sé que no las van a respetar, por lo menos tengo que contar que tendremos "suerte" y nuestro conteo de casos de contagio y casos de muerte no se incremente demasiado en las próximas semanas.

Estos carnavales los veo manchados con las noticias sobre la Guerra de invasión en Ucrania, cosa que ocurre en otro continente y pareciera que estamos muy lejos, sin embargo, nuestro gobierno está particularmente comprometido en esta situación bélica y nos estamos metiendo en un problema como nunca antes en nuestra historia, mira que si pisamos mal, podemos terminar con una situación internacional más complicada de la que ya tenemos.

Reviso lo que tenemos en la #historia y me encuentro que: Hoy, en 1936, muere el fisiólogo Iván Pávlov. Médico y fisiólogo ruso, distinguido con el Premio Nobel de Fisiología o Medicina (1904) y la Orden de la Legión de Honor (1915), es muy recordado por su desarrollo del concepto del reflejo condicionado. Este aporte en que vincula el comportamiento específico de un mamífero con un estímulo fue lo que dio inicio a todo el movimiento de estudio conductista de la psiquis humana, definió que no podemos estudiar la mente, que no es algo material, pero si podemos estudiar los #comportamientos como un reflejo de la mente y también la interrelación entre nuestro sistema nervioso y la conducta, mostrando que los seres vivos no deciden en realidad en muchas circunstancias, hay buena cantidad de ocasiones en que nuestras hormonas y nuestra fisiología nos lleva a hacer algunas cosas y luego es nuestro raciocinio el que se esfuerza por dar excusas racionales (o racionalizar) las cosas que hemos hecho o hemos elegido.

Eso de querer llevar el estudio de la psicología a algo más material y observable es bastante científico, pero es comprensible su enfoque dentro de la corriente materialista de la ciencia. En tiempos más recientes, la corriente conductista ha tenido diferentes críticas en la aplicación #psicológica y #psiquiátrica, pero también ha mostrado que sigue siendo una herramienta eficaz cuando se usa de manera precisa en aquellas cosas que están dentro de su campo de enfoque. Incluso, la famosa Programación Neolingüística #PNL bien puede señalar sus raíces en esta corriente de la psicología, en donde para cambiar a la persona, hay que cambiar su comportamiento, en el caso de la PNL lo llevan un paso más lejos, llegando a poner las cosas casi que en un reino mágico y metafísico, en donde se piden deseos y el Universo los cumple.

Creo que si Pávlov leyera esas ideas, le daría un ataque o un infarto, cuando menos.

Bien, reportando cosas personales, el día de hoy volvió a llover un poco y estuvimos sin servicio eléctrico durante las horas de la mañana debido a ello, mi servicio eléctrico comenzó a funcionar de nuevo medianamente bien en la tarde y la señal de internet es hace poco que está más estable, en fin, que no debo quejarme mucho, estoy mucho mejor que bastante gente.
