Embracing Failure: The Real Victory in Trying.

Hello, fellow freewriters! Happy New Month,Today, I want to share a simple but powerful message that I came across in an image. It's a photo of the back window of a BMW car covered in frost or dust.Written on it,were the words "If you fail, congratulations. Most people don't even try." This quote hit me hard because it flips the way we usually think about failure.Instead of seeing it as something bad,it celebrates the courage it takes to even start. In our freewriters community, where we all pour our hearts into stories, poems, and ideas, this message feels perfect. We know what it's like to put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) and risk not getting it right the first time.Let me dive deeper into why this idea matters and how it can change our approach to writing and life.
First, let's break down the quote. The main idea is that trying something new is already a win, even if it doesn't work out. Most people stay in their comfort zones because they're afraid of failing. They dream about writing a book, starting a blog, or sharing their thoughts online, but they never do it. Why? Fear of criticism, fear of rejection,or fear of looking silly. But when you try and fail, you've done more than those who sit on the sidelines. You've learned something. You've grown. In writing, this is huge. Think about how many times we've all started a story, hated it halfway through and scrapped it.That "failure" isn't a loss,it's practice that makes the next one better.
Let me give you some real examples to make this clearer.Take famous writers we admire. J.K. Rowling, the author of Harry Potter, faced a lot of rejection. She sent her manuscript to 12 publishers, and all said no.She could have given up after the first rejection, but she kept trying. If she hadn't,we wouldn't have those magical stories today.Another one is Stephen King,Stephen King is one of the most famous and prolific American authors, primarily known for his work in the horror, supernatural fiction, suspense, crime, science-fiction and fantasy genres. His first novel,Carrie, was thrown in the trash by him because he thought it was terrible. His wife pulled it out from the trash 🗑️ and encouraged him to finish. It became a bestseller. These people failed many times, but they tried again and again. Failure isn't the end,it's just a step.
Now, why does this matter for us as freewriters? Writing is all about taking risks. When you freewrite, you let ideas flow without judging them right away. Sometimes, what comes out is messy or doesn't make sense. That's okay! The quote reminds us that the real failure is not writing at all.
In my own experience, way back,I once tried to write a novel during a busy month.I only got to chapter 2 before life got in the way, and I felt like I failed. But looking back, those chapters taught me how to build characters better,It boosted my confidence.
So, if you're staring at a blank page, worried about failing, remember, congratulations if it doesn't turn out perfect.
You've already beaten the odds by trying. This mindset can apply beyond writing too. In everyday life, people avoid new things like learning a skill, asking for a promotion, or even trying a new hobby. But imagine if everyone in the world tried just one scary thing each day.We would have more inventions, more art and more happiness. The image of that car window, with the BMW logo shining through the frost, adds a nice touch. It's like saying even fancy things get dusty, but a simple message can make them memorable. It shows that inspiration can come from anywhere—a dirty car in a parking lot.
In the end, let's make a pact in our freewriters community, likewise other communities, celebrate our tries, not just our successes.Next time you fail at a writing prompt or a story falls flat, pat yourself on the back. You're ahead of most people. Keep writing, keep sharing, and keep trying. Who knows? Your "failure" today might lead to your biggest win tomorrow. What about you? Share your failure stories in the comments,I would love to hear how you've turned them into triumphs. Thanks for reading, and happy freewriting!
Yours truly @zusi78 signing off.
