Hello Hivians 🤗,It is been a while,I welcome you to my blog @zusi78.
In our fast-paced world, anger often bubbles up like boiling water in a pot. It's chaotic, steamy and impossible to see clearly through it.Just like the wise saying in this image reminds us: You cannot see your reflection in boiling water.Similarly, you cannot see the truth in a state of anger. When the water calms, clarity comes. This simple yet profound metaphor draws from everyday life to teach a timeless lesson about emotions and decision-making.
Think about it,when water is boiling, the surface is disturbed by bubbles and heat, distorting everything. Your face,no matter how close you look, won't show up properly.Anger works the same way in our minds. It clouds judgment, twists facts and blocks us from seeing the real picture. But once things settle, everything becomes sharp and true.
Let's break this down a bit more.Anger is a natural human response,it can come from frustration at work, arguments with loved ones, or even small daily annoyances like traffic in a busy city like Warri where I resides. When we're angry, our brains go into fight-or-flight mode.Blood rushes, heart races and logical thinking takes a back seat.In that state, we might say things we regret or make choices that don't align with our values.
For example, imagine you're in a heated debate with a friend. If you're boiling with rage, you might miss their valid points or exaggerate your own.The "truth" you see then isn't the full story,it's warped by emotion. But if you step back, take a deep breath, and let the anger cool, like letting the water simmer down, you start to notice details you overlooked.
Suddenly, solutions appear, empathy returns and real understanding emerges.
This idea isn't new; it's echoed in many cultures and philosophies. In ancient wisdom, teachings like Buddhism, there's emphasis on patience and calm for true insight. For writers in our Freewriters community, this is especially relevant. Writing often flows from emotion, but editing and refining come from a place of clarity. If you're drafting a story while angry, it might come out raw and unpolished.
Wait for the calm and your words gain depth and honesty.
Practically, how can we apply this? Start with simple steps: Pause before reacting, count to ten or walk away.Practice mindfulness, like deep breathing or journaling your feelings.Over time, this habit turns boiling moments into calm ones, revealing truths that lead to better relationships, smarter decisions, and personal growth.
As a believer, even the Bible recommends great self-control in the face of anger,James 1:19-20 urging us to be "quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires." But not everyone shares this faith, and that's okay, what matters is finding your own path to calm, whether through scripture, meditation, science-backed techniques like cognitive behavioral therapy, or simply time-tested wisdom from around the world. The key is recognizing that clarity comes from composure, no matter your beliefs.
So, next time anger starts to boil, remember the pot of water.Let it cool and watch clarity unfold.
