Merry Christmas.
The morning didn't work out as planned. Last night I hung the stockings by the chimney with care. I even put the sign below pleading my case before Santa.
For an added touch, I hung Coco's stocking by the chimney despite the fact that Coco is now chasing frisbees in the big dog park in the sky.
Since Santa has a sweet spot for chocolat labs, I figured that pulling on Santa's heart strings would increase the chance of my finding great things in my stocking.
Alas. Santa did not visit.
Maybe Santa went to the dog park in the sky and tossed a few balls for Coco. I really don't know what happened.
I think it was the cookies. I failed to put out cookies.
I would have but a mouse snuck into our house during that huge snowstorm last week and I was worried that the mouse would invite its friends to nibble on cookies during the wee hours of Christmas day.
A Pre-Internet Example of an Internet Meme
The sign is a pre-internet example of an internet #meme. The sign has a faded price tag with the name Mitchell's Signs with a price of $14.99. I doubt that anyone in my family would have spent $15 on something like this. The only reason to leave a price tag on is that the actual sale price was substantially less.
I suspect that the sign was created in the 1970s or 80s. I found a web site for a company called Mitchell's Signs which was founded in Meridian, Ms in 1904.
We have quite a few old signs with funny sayings. So, people were putting memes on signs long before Dawkins coined the term and long before there was an Internet.
Christmas Project
I want to teach myself how to program in SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics). My plan for Christmas day was to try and draw a Christmas Tree. I will be using the Geany Text Editor. So, maybe I can verify my brain by slowing drawing an image just by placing in a text file. I will put the picture here.
I will start the image after I press publish on Wavio. I realized that if I waited until I finished the picture, Christmas would be over for most of the world before I completed the image.
