“Pushed Myself to the Gym… and Survived!”

I’ve been meaning to get back to the gym for ages...

but life always seems to get in the way—lack of sleep, personal stuff, work, chores at the chicken coop, taking care of the kids, or just random distractions.
I really want to work out because I’m naturally slim, my metabolism is fast, and even though I can eat a lot, I still stay thin.
Lately, I’ve been feeling weaker, probably because I sit most of the time. I can stretch at home, but it’s hard to really sweat when there are so many interruptions.
Last week was a wake-up call. I got sick—a fever that lasted five days! That’s a first for me. Usually, when I get sick, it’s gone in a day. This time, it was rough—fever, cold, cough, and joint pain that made moving around really hard. I felt like a senior citizen! By God’s grace, I recovered, but it made me realize how important it is to take care of my body. Being sick affected everything, from work to my time with my toddlers.
So today, I finally pushed myself to go to the gym at 2:30 in the afternoon. I got my clothes ready and borrowed my brother’s bike.

The gym is only four minutes away, but I almost skipped it because it’s cold and windy. I went anyway.
I stretched a bit, lifted some light weights, and did a few sets of bench press.

It felt amazing to sweat and move my body! I wanted to lift heavier, but I know it’s better to start slow to avoid injury.

After just 30 minutes, I headed home feeling energized and proud.
It was a small step, but a start. My goal now is to be consistent at least twice a week. Sometimes, you just have to push yourself to start—and the benefits are worth it. Until next time, gym!
