Don't get distracted by the fallen coin

We are born with nothing, and we die with nothing. The only difference is what we cling to or what we distance ourselves from between these two events.

Why does everyone's own identity interfere so much with the decisions we make? We think that our convictions should always be understood by others. Wouldn't it be easier if there was acceptance and respect for others? If we didn't have to feel it as a personal attack when someone disagrees with our way of seeing a situation and our convictions and beliefs, everything would be much simpler.

The conclusion then remains that the strength with which we cling to other things, ideas, convictions and beliefs is what will actually influence us in making many of the decisions we are faced with.

But can a myriad of options, alternatives and choices also be seen as a prison?

We can see it that way. Imagine that we have so many alternatives for deciding what to do, that we end up never doing anything we're happy with, and we're always looking for something that isn't enough. That's the essence of man.

Always looking for what we think is best for us, even if it's not.

And what distances us from our goal or objective? What we find along the way. If we're trying to do something we have in mind, and we happen to see something that captures our attention, that we like, that gives us satisfaction, our mind automatically gets stuck in that moment. And what we had in mind to do automatically takes a back seat.

This is an automatic mechanism we have that ensures we receive all the rewards we can get our hands on, even if it takes us away from our first goal.

Our discipline is important in achieving our goals, but if we don't have the determination and willpower to let go of any rewards we see along the way, we end up getting sidetracked.

As we have access to more options and varieties of paths, it ends up being harder for each of us to stick to our initial choice, without having the temptation to jump to a path that at some point seemed more rewarding.

All that will differentiate us is the will we have to continue on our journey and not stare at the little silver coin we find on the ground on our way to what can make us happy.
