Mayday - Hypersensitivosaurus and Cold Turkey walk into a bar in Italy.

What follows is a wee li'l story inspired by @clareartista and me mistakenly drinking (caffeinated) coffee for the first time in about a month.

After the Sunday market, on a slightly chilly but beautiful day in Mid May, Hypersensitivosaurus and Cold Turkey decided to go for a warm drink at a local bar.

Cold Turkey sat herself down on a table outside. She put a linen bag down next to her and took out a dress, some thread and a needle. It was time to start on some sewing, to reset her mind. Not just to recover from the market energy but also to tune out from all the smoking and drinking animals around her.

Meanwhile, Hypersensitivosaurus mentally prepared to order two barley cappuccinos, in his best Italian.

( the two of them had been detoxing for a while and hadn't had a caffeinated coffee in about a month )

When he entered the place, walked towards the bar and laid out his order, the Wolf that worked there gave him a puzzled look. He asked Hypersensitivosaurus to repeat the order and your favorite giant lizard tried to explain it in a slightly different way:

"Due latte caldo, caldo con cappuccino di orzo."
( two hot milk with barley cappuccino )

He used the exact sentence that Cold Turkey, who - unlike him - had been living in Italy for 15 years, used to order this drink.

Mr Wolf told him that he only had "this type of milk" and showed him a carton of milk.

"Va bene" ( that's fine ) replied Hypersensitivosaurus.

He went back outside and asked Cold Turkey, who was sewing away with a focused look on her face, whether he should just wait outside for their drinks or whether he should wait inside, at the bar, to carry them out to them himself.

She told him that it would be nicer to go inside and save the wolf some work.

Perhaps she said this to have a moment for herself ( not an easy feat in their relationship, as they were pretty inseparable since they first met, 9 moons ago ) and understandably so.

Thus, Hypersensitivosaurus walked back inside with his tail hanging between his legs ( it was long and heavy, so sometimes this happened, even if he wasn't ashamed at all ).

He waited for the wolf to finish his order and when he picked up the tray with the drinks from the counter he said:

"Pago doppo?" ( can I pay later )

"Si" said the wolf.

Hypersensitivosaurus walked out, again, carrying the two warm drinks to their table.

He put the tray with two cups of fizzy water and two barley coffees down in front of Cold Turkey and briefly described the situation/scene that had taken place between him and the bar keeper ( as the two of them practically shared every interaction with other creatures that the other half didn't witness ).

Cold Turkey listened and continued sewing.
Hypersensitivosaurus picked up his drink and took a first sip.

"Very nice but not very warm...", he said
"...but it does not really taste like barley coffee, more like normal coffee. Unless the barley coffee has been burnt.

"Perhaps it's normal coffee..." said Cold Turkey, taking a sip herself.

They soon decided that it did indeed seem to be actual coffee. The wolf had been distracted and gotten the order wrong, even though he had made them cappuccino di orzo several times before.

For half a minute or so ( in which his head brain was spinning in its highest gear ), Hypersensitivosaurus considered to tell the wolf that they hadn't asked for normal coffee, asking him to correct the order and make them two barley coffees, instead.

It felt like a failure though and, in all the honesty, they felt they deserved an exceptional coffee, today. It helped that it tasted extraordinarily good. Therefore, Hypersensitivosaurus and Cold Turkey decided to go with the flow and to just enjoy their first coffee in a long time.

Tomorrow would be another day. A normal day without caffeine.

Hopefully, going cold turkey wouldn't hit them as hard as it did the last time they gave coffee a try, after a lengthy hiatus.

It's now more than 6 hours later and the caffeine is still running through my - and probably @clareartista 's - veins. I have to confess that it has been a bit hard to sit still, this afternoon, but it's nice to have some extra (creative) fuel, for a change.

Let's see how we sleep tonight and feel tomorrow, when we go back to not drink any caffeine at all.

Fingers crossed.

Are you a coffee drinker and have you every tried detoxing from it?
