River City Girls: A Beat 'Em Up Surprise!

Hello gamers! How are you? I hope everything is going well! Today I claimed a pretty good anime/manga pixel art game on Epic Games, as the cinematics have a completely anime "webtoon" style and some manga. The entire game is in pixel art. It's really a pretty interesting title, with a theme that may seem silly, but it's actually very well designed. So, here it is. It's still free.

The story itself is simple: Two high school girls whose boyfriends have been kidnapped. The principal is completely against you, and the students will try to prevent you from finding the kidnapped boyfriends. Little by little, it becomes more mysterious, and you meet various characters, but the game itself focuses entirely on the fight inside the school first, and little by little you can unlock new maps, as well as go back to unlock secret doors.

The combat dynamics are excellent; it has a very arcade-like spirit, similar to the arcade games, with a fluid movement similar to today's style. And something I think is a very good addition to the beat-up games of this era: the ability to level up, unlock attacks, and more. This allows us to progress and unlock quite interesting progress with our character.

In addition, we'll have different objects and accessories to personalize our character's attacks and abilities to become stronger or more resistant to enemy attacks. So, little by little, we'll advance not only in the story but also in our character.

We can choose two of the main characters to play, and each will have their own fighting style. I've only tried one of them, but I want to progress through the worlds by swapping characters. In itself, this great beat-up is challenging, classic, and entertaining, with a fluid combat system and a skill tree that's worth unlocking and advancing as you play. See you in a future post.
