Life, Through The Eyes Of An 8 Year Old

My daughter loves to take pictures. I got her a little camera, which printed out the photos in black and white, no where near as good quality as a polaroid, but she was very happy with it. The ink however didn't last very long and the quality is not so great, so she has resorted to asking me for my phone, so that she can take pictures of the things that she finds interesting and beautiful.

I love going through my phone and seeing what she has captured. Sometimes it's lots of her pulling some pretty impressive faces, but mostly it's of animals, flowers and nature. I feel like it gives me a small glimpse into her world, into her mind and what is important to her. We really have some a long way from our cave painting days, the ability we have now to record our lives and what matters the most to us. To share what our lives, our world is like.

She still loves to draw pictures and she makes me the most beautiful cards, that she just leaves by my bed sometimes. Which make, for the most wonderful surprise. I have quite the collection already. And she really does know me as, they are always full of mushrooms and trees and hearts. There have been times, when I have been having a tough day and I will find one of her wonderful cards on my bed, waiting for me to find it. Straight away I feel better, my mood lifted and I remember what really matters.

In these heavy times, these dark times, which are dripping with grief ad hate and division, we all need some light. I am blessed to have 3 girls, that bring so much light into my life.
So today I wanted to share some of the joy that they bring, in the form of my youngest daughters photos and a sample of one of her cards. Right now, we really have got to focus on the light, on the beauty that is in this world, to remember that they are so many wonderful things, wonderful beings in our lives.
All the photos in this post were taken by my daughter, except for the one I took for of one of her cards.
