Homeschooling day
As the weather prediction was quite bad for the Monday, we decided on Sunday to have homeschooling day on Monday so that I could practice some other things with her that she isn't doing at school currently as that's mostly play time during the summer months. The rest of the week is expected to be bloody hot, read: a new heat wave incoming, meaning they will be playing with water and in the pool at the kindergarten. She will be happy the rest of the week, I'm sure. I'd sign for it as well, being at the kindergarten's playground all day, in the shade with water, how lovely! I never had a play area at any of my schools when I was young that came close to this one. Pretty cool..
I did make a deal with her
You will be home with me, but we will focus on doing some homeschooling classes to see where you're at practicing and to pick up some speed for some things as well. I remember some thing just didn't stick, today I'm going to test a bit if this is still the case now that she's clearly a "happy camper" back playing at the kindergarten for the second month now. I notice a huge difference in her overall mood, so I might be surprised by her willingness and interest today.
On top of the "boring" classes, there's also room for other things
She's been asking me for beads for a week, after they created a necklace at the kindergarten. I found wooden beads on Friday and when I found a suitable box to place the beads in, we sorted them by color, it was as if this box (that was once for bonbons, no waste here lol) was made for her bag of beads. Don't you just love the color of them? I do, adorable combination..
On top of the fun part, I thought this would be a good time to see how she's doing with her fine motor skills. She's enjoying the lacing while I check how smooth it goes.

She picked that up quickly
I took the plastic needle (you can see it in the box with the blue beads) and laced the purple nylon thread through it. To make sure beads weren't flying around the room, I thought of a solution to keep the beads in place. I used a clothespin for the end:

The end result
And below you can see the end result of her creation:

She didn't follow a pattern because I gave her free hand in creating it. The next time that we will lace beads, I'm going to sit down with her and see if we can create one following a pattern. But nevertheless, it turned out great, don't you think? I was also happy to see that there's absolutely nothing wrong with her fine motor skills.
What is your favorite thing to do when you're practicing fine motor skills? Any tips? Please feel free to leave a comment below.
