No Man's Sky Review Part 1 - First Impressions

It has been quite some time (a few years) since I've tried out No Mans Sky. With all of the 5 years anniversary and new update buzz, I felt compelled to install it and give it another go! These are the first 15 or so minutes.
Right off the bat I notice they've added some new game modes. The latest is a 'Community Expedition' that grants rewards. We'll explore this more later! For now, we're going to jump into the standard game and create a new save. The world has definitely expanded! I remember the load in time being much shorter but now the fly through is much longer!
I had the misfortune of landing on a pretty nasty Radiation/Toxic planet with a super hot atmosphere lol. Yipee! Fortunately, it seems the developers have really spent some time making the game friendly to new players and helping guide you too each step to finding the materials to recharge your suit and find your plane for the first time!
Upon finding my plane I immediately realized I needed to make more parts. Duh! The ship is smoking! Back into the toxic plumes of death we go!
After checking my distress beacon I was able to location the position of a building that could have the supplies I'm looking for, so I suit back up and begin the long trek by foot. We were making pretty decent timing before a weather warning arrived indicating a FIRE STORM was approaching. Sure enough, within moments we were overwhelmed with heat as fire ripped across the lands. We were only barely able to make it safety, right as our heat resistance protection began to fail, whew!
This location did indeed have the loot we needed, so I quickly scavenged what was available before fixing my scanner and began the journey back to our ship.
Once back to the ship we were presented with additional tasks that teach us how to build our first building item (refinery) and refine our first ore that will be needed for take off which also was very quick to complete.
After this, we launched and left that toxic world behind us in search for a new home.
No Mans Sky has come so very far since I last played back in 2018-2019. I'm excited to dive in further and explore all of the wonders that away us in this insane world!
Thanks for reading!
