No Man's Sky - Meeting up with HIVE friends and exploring!

I was able to find a little time to play a little more No Man's Sky this week! Along the way, I was able to meet up with @huzzah and do some exploration together! Here are some of the experiences I had during the last session.
No Man's Sky has a really cool way of dropping players near one another now. While I remember launch being pretty underwhelming, they've really made some serious strides here that impressed me quite a bit. Dropping into the same galaxy was pretty seamless and we were able to get started rather quickly! As we were both still pretty new in these characters, our progression was pretty much the same and on all levels. We even flew the same craft!
After meeting up, we decided to go ahead and advance the story a bit so we can both become more acquainted with the game but also so we can unlock a few of the necessary items a bit more quickly. Once we had a few of the core unlocks available (such as the research station and walls lol) we set up a quick outpost and hit the rest of the initial galaxy missions together.
While progressing the story we ultimately had to repair, refuel, and activate our warp drives which took us to our next system. This gave us an opportunity to spend some time at the Space Station looking at economic trade prices and exploring various vendors. Afterwards, we were off to explore the this galaxy had to offer! Almost immediately after dropping into atmosphere of our first planet, I discovered a crashed vessel! We quickly landed and I ultimately spent the next hour or so collecting the necessary materials to repair the craft.
The initial materials were what you expect. Refined and base level metals. Crafted technology parts (or purchased from the trade terminal) and other basic items. I quickly searched the first planet I landed on using my awesome jetpack technologies (that allow me to move quickly through jumps) and repairing the pieces I could do without leaving the surface. The next few wouldn't be so easy!
The next few materials required were Activated Copper and Dioxite. The only planet I could find in the system with either of these elements not only had both, but was an extreme temperature planet with incredibly aggressive sentinels that frequently patrolled the surface of the planet. As you can see above the temperatures dropped lower than -149.9 F or -101.05 C! These extreme storms also last around 10 minutes and I would need to tunnel underground to stay safe during some of the longer periods. I attempted to tunnel from mineral deposit to deposit, but there were "bedrock" areas everywhere that made this challenging, as my land manipulation tool would not mine through it. Alas, I push through the devastating weather and many battles with sentinels until I was able to gather the materials I had sought after.
With much excitement, I finished up the remaining repairs and was finally ready for launch. This new ship doubles the amount of inventory space I was used to, which feels like a Godsend at this point with the amount of materials I was selling just to make room in my storage hold. We also have far more equipment slots which will allow for more upgrades. I intend on using this ship for Asteroid Belt mining until I can find or afford a much larger utility ship. For now, this will work more excellently!
I gave myself some time to hang out back at the Space Station again, mostly to sell some loot and check out new multi-tools. While there, I was able to visit the Appearance Change station and refit some of my gear! I settled on a black/gold theme (this is a common theme in games I play) and a badass warrior style helmet.
Overall, the game continues to impress me. Hello Games has loaded the world with so much content, I'm not sure when I'll ever get bored. No Man's Sky continues to hang out on my active play list and you can expect more updates from here!
