We Talk Friday

(WTF)

This is a semi-regular series that I will run on Fridays to hold discussions on a current topic from the week gone. The aim is to keep them light and conversational, though some might be heavier - regardless of the content topic itself though, just have some fun engaging and discussing with whoever happens to put in the effort in the comments section below.

We Talk Friday Ep. 37: No Man's Island

Perhaps Trump thinks that Greenland should be part of the US because of its name - as the only two things he is interested in is money, and himself. What is interesting is that not only is Demark part of Nato, it is a founding member, as is the US. But if the US was to attack Greenland, article 5 comes into play:

Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty states that an armed attack against one NATO member shall be considered an attack against them all. Since 1949, this unwavering pledge has bound together a group of like-minded countries from Europe and North America, which have committed themselves to protecting each other in a spirit of solidarity.

So, this creates quite an awkward situation, since the US would be attacking all other NATO countries, as well as itself. It also opens up the gate for other NATO countries to come to the defence, but would they?

I suspect not.

However, what it would prove beyond a shadow of a doubt, is that the US becomes an enemy of the world, an "axis of evil" so to speak, and should be immediately sanctioned. This would be a great thing for the RoW, for as I have said earlier, the RoW should cut the US off from global trade until it comes into line with global standards. The largest single economy cut off from the rest of the world, very quickly becomes the largest economic failure in the modern world and the people within would and should rebel.

Just what the world needs.

It seems counter productive, but maintaining the status quo is not in the best interest of 99.99% of people on earth. And the status quo is where the majority of western countries keep appeasing the US in order to keep access to their debt-driven economy. Instead, they should rip the bandaid off, and start building something far healthier with the other 7.8 billion people on earth. There will be more than enough demand for products to drive growth, without the US.

So yeah, maybe it would be great if the US takes Greenland by force, so that we can stop appeasing tyranny and instead cut it out from global trade. And while the US has the best equipped military, it can't fight globally simultaneously without nuclear war - and then we are all screwed anyway. But before that happens, maybe the American people will finally do what they have said all their guns are for, and overthrow a government that isn't working in their best interest.

What a messed up world we have made.
