Dusting the Nose

Like a crack addict....
Through December, I have diligently been collecting my daily Zing rewards in order to collect Holo Dust, which is an in-game token that will be utilized for various actions, like crafting. Now, I don't know what any of this will look like or mean, nor do I know how much is needed for gameplay, but I like collecting stuff it seems, and this one is right up my alley.
Say hello to my little friend!
Got a credit card and a rolled up Benjamin?
The daily collection is random, so it doesn't matter when claimed, or how much Zing an account has, the chances of collection amount are the same, I think. So far, I have collected 117.6, with some days collecting a little, some days more, with the average of 4.52 a day.
It is going to be interesting once the alpha launches to see what the early phases of the game is going to be like. What I hope though, at least at first, is that there isn't too much complexity and instead it is fun to play and collect, not just collect. I think that one of the problems Splinterlands created for itself is that they focused more on the financial side of things. This is attractive to get participants, but it also means that a lot of the game was to game the system, which made it hard to enjoy playing the game itself and left the team constantly trying to find ways to balance the system. And then, there are so many different moving parts in the game that all can be gamed, that it becomes a beast, with too much complication to control.
But hey, that is just my opinion.
And my opinion is biased, because I am neither a maximiser, nor am I smart enough to be able to put together all of those moving parts to work to my advantage. I struggle to play the game itself, and if it stops being fun, what kind of game does it become?
I believe that one of the problems with a lot of the crypto games is that the focus is on the earning, more than the playing. With traditional online games, the way to get players is to make the game great, make it fun, make it competitive, make it compelling. And by doing so, people will keep on playing, keep on upgrading, keep on spending. If the focus is earning only, with gameplay second, as soon as the earnings disappear, which is often driven by the inevitable bear markets, the games will struggle to not only get a player base, but earn enough to keep development growing.
Gaming is a challenging environment.
But for now, I don't have to worry about any of this and can instead just spend my time collecting some in-game tokens in the hope that they will come in handy come game time. And if HIVE does get some more action on it, I might squeeze in another line of vials too. And if you are signing up for Holozing for the first time, remember you can use my referral.
