Decarbonizing homes and decarbonizing transport systems (Initiatives)

From time to time I visit the newspaper, the reason behind it lies in the most common reasonings of all; I don't like diverting my mind to knowing aspects that will likely not be beneficial nor anything can be changed, so why to know. This was my common approach, which is why I used to avoid reading them. However, there is a saying, the more you run from something, it runs behind you.
Yes, that is what happened. I learned that not only newspaper but anything which has potential to give you knowledge, why not take it and spread it. Spreading might not always lead to a fruitful conversation but taking the chance will not cost me anything. Now, the present me is very much aware of how efficient information is. So, today while glancing at the newspaper, my eyes caught very interesting news and I am quite excited to share it with you all.
DECARBONIZING HOMES AND DECARBONIZING TRANSPORTS! Maybe you are not as shocked as I was. Shock is not the right word, I was more SURPRISED and THRILLED. Surprised because finally, someone took the initiative to transform something bigger, and that was also not in a community but in a whole island. If you are already up to date about the news you know what I am talking about; Rathlin island.
They have gone through a lot of changes to make their life more sustainable, more efficient. How many times have you seen people gathering together to fight for their rights? Many I believe, but did you ever see or read or hear about an entire community together not fighting but standing for their rights and actually doing something about it?
I might sound like I am exaggerating the news but just the mere thought of people working together to actually make a change always sounded too movie-like. And, this is where I am thrilled and I have looked it up more. They have proposed for wind turbines, trying to make their island electric sufficient, taking approaches that are more eco-friendly than the opposite.
You know another thing that caught my attention was their approach to transforming transportation and home appliances, all depending upon electricity and solar power. Maybe the concept is not so very new but the initiative is what actually matters at the end of the day. There are many tiny cities, islands, and some communities, where they are trying to implement. If you are part of them, do share your thoughts and experience of it all.
