My parent always taught me to be mindful with our expenses. Belonging from middle class family who does not afford extravagant spending on various items, we always opt to spend on needful stuffs than spending blindly. I think the habits incorporated into me since then and always make sure that my spending add value for the long-term rather than going into wayward unnecessary items.

Mindful spending is all about, awareness, understanding your spending triggers, differentiating wants from needs, and ensuring your money supports your overall financial and life goals. I have been with friends whose spend based on automatic reaction. If they like something they like to own it, even though it gives them a temporary happiness. Once, my friend like a phone cover, although he does not like to keep the phone in cover. But he still went to buy it for their collection. He never hesitant for a moment to pay Rs.500 for it. I find it strange but that is how the new generation see the world. Owning something is more important than making use of such things. I believe, before making any expenses it is important to take a pause to ask if a purchase brings lasting value or just temporary satisfaction. Mindful spending habits involve making intentional, conscious financial decisions by pausing to reflect on whether a purchase aligns with your personal values, long-term goals, and true needs, rather than acting impulsively or out of habit, leading to greater financial control, less regret, and better alignment with what truly matters to us.

My money reflects my priorities

2025 has been a great year for many of us. We incurred many expenses to fulfill our needs and some on owning things. I incurred expenses too and my expensive buy has been a new smartphone. Wait.✋️ if I say expensive it does not mean i go beyond my limit and bought an #iPhone. Rather I spend good amount of time in researching about the various brands, look out for their pros and cons and finally bought one budget phone. I know people like to expensive phone to flaunt in the society. One of my cousin own Samsung s24, however he rarely ever used his camera or other feature. Such things is not with me. I wanted a basic smartphone phone with good longevity. A phone is now become an essential part of our life. From navigating to banking, to making calls. These are my basic requirement along with a good camera. After analyzing various smartphone i bought Motorola phone for 16K INR. Which I think was a mindful purchases. The original price was 24K but after some discount and credit card i manage to break to so much less.

I think if you buy a branded phone it may gives a good life. My last phone was with me for 4 years and recently started some issues with the display. And now, after spending on Motorola that comes with latest android version and supported to next 2 upgrades, I doubt if I ever have to spend such amount again. It was worth of a purchase and think , I will carry it for next couple of years before thinking if buying another one. While people like to keep changing their handset, I prefer to carry a sane phone, as it caters my usage. It is all purpose phone.

Spending with intention. ✨

When spending is intentional, every penny is directed toward building the life you envision, whether it is saving for a down payment on a house, a dream vacation, or a comfortable retirement. Mindful spending is a powerful mindset shift that empowers you to direct your hard-earned money towards what truly matters, creating both financial stability and a more fulfilling life.

In good faith - Peace!!
