İzmir, Turkey 🇹🇷

Izmir wasn’t part of our original plan, as we intended to explore smaller towns and villages after Istanbul… but fate had other ideas. ✨ A chance opportunity led us to Izmir – it was the only way to catch up with fellow motorcycle travelers, PoPowsigirkiho were returning from their journey through Georgia. 🏍️🌍 We arrived late in the afternoon, just before sunset. 🌅
As we entered the city, we were greeted by an impressive 42-meter-high rock relief of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. 🇹🇷 This is the largest monument of its kind in Turkey, completed in 2009 as a tribute to the founder of modern Turkey. The sculpture is located on the slopes of Mount Kadifekale and stands as a powerful symbol of the city’s respect for Atatürk. 🏞️
We spent the evening with Aga and Dawid, wandering through the nearby streets, and the next morning, we headed to a scenic viewpoint overlooking the entire city. 🌇 It was the perfect spot for a few memorable photos, reminding us that sometimes it’s easier to cross paths with fellow travelers abroad than in our own country. 🏍️🤝 What we managed to see sparked a desire to return to Izmir in the future – there’s still so much left to explore. 🔍✨
