A New Heart-Pounding Thrill in Splinterlands

Hello, Splinterlands warriors.
There’s a new kind of hope this year—different from the usual. This time, hope doesn’t come in the form of resolutions, but… daily chests. Yes, the chests we usually open without much thought now suddenly feel like a tiny slot machine that makes your heart work overtime. The name is: Frontier Jackpot Cards.
If there are no delays, after the maintenance on Tuesday, January 13, the Free to Play Frontier format will receive something that, honestly, feels pretty “wow.” There are four new cards, one from each rarity: Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary. But these are not ordinary cards. They do not appear in packs, are not found in advancement chests, and cannot be chased through normal means. There is only one way: claim your daily Frontier rewards. Show up on time, open the chest, and pray.
And that’s where the drama lies.
I love this concept. Because Frontier is free. Everyone enters with the same odds. Thick wallet or thin, every victory now carries one possibility: what if today is the jackpot?
Let’s get to know the Frontier Jackpot lineup one by one.
First, from the Common rarity, we have Aimee Whisperwind.

Aimee Whisperwind speaks of patience and movement. Of surviving not only by standing firm, but by knowing when to strike fast. Just by looking at her stats, I can already imagine this card fitting players who move quickly and go straight for the enemy’s weakest point.
Moving up to Rare, we meet Necrulencian Thief (Human).

This thief knows how to survive. Subtle poison and deception are his main weapons. What’s interesting is the poison aimed at the backline defense—reminiscent of URAEUS.
Then from Epic, there is White Chickadee (Mundane Beast).

A small bird focused on preparation and evasion. Not strong, not ferocious, but slippery. Don’t be fooled by its appearance—this little bird can become a team supporter that’s hard to pin down.
And finally, the peak: Legendary – Eris Bimblenok (Drakoshan).

This is not just a card. This is a walking legend. A figure who turned Arena Games from chaos into discipline. His line lands softly yet firmly: “Mastery is not a destination. It is a commitment.” And it feels like it’s not only meant for this character, but for us as players too.
What makes this update even crazier is the Jackpot Variants.
Each card has a chance to appear as Gold Foil, Black Foil, Gold Foil Arcane, or Black Foil Arcane. And at the very top of it all, there is one mythical item: Legendary Black Foil Arcane Eris Bimblenok. One. Only one in the world. Once someone gets it, that’s it. It will never appear again. Hopefully, the one who gets it is me (while hoping and daydreaming in broad daylight).
What about the odds?
Each daily challenge claim has a 1.5% chance to get one of these Jackpot cards. Sounds small. But that’s exactly where the thrill is. Because this is a bonus, not a replacement for existing rewards. So if you get one, it feels like winning twice. If not? Well, try again tomorrow.
This update is simple but deeply felt: sometimes what keeps a game alive isn’t a big reward, but a small chance that keeps tempting you. Frontier is no longer just a place to learn and grind. It has become a stage for small daily hopes. Players from other modes will likely start flooding into Frontier soon.
My impression of this early-year update: Splinterlands knows how to make players come back tomorrow. Not by force, but through curiosity. With one simple thought every time we open a chest:
“What if today is the day?”
