No Defense

The sunshine covered our city that morning. With a clear light blue sky. The clouds are moving slowly and bit distant, making the sky looks calm. One could not expect anything, other than a nice weather. It was Autumn. Her favorite month. Little Anna woke up, to look from the window to see the city view. The old looking alike houses. Painted in grey-ish color, with a red brick rooftop that blends well with the color, giving it a vibe of a cowboy movie, or, a Turkish city style. The streets are crowded in the morning, as everyone is going to their work. Just like every other day, the beginning of the day is the busiest. Something that can be seen on people's faces.
Her big sister came in the room, and she was shocked that Anna was still not ready. She said in a high pitch tone that shows some urgency and a little bit of panic: We do not want to be late to school. Let's just get ready and get moving. She helped her little sister with getting ready and head out. After she dropped her sister to school, she went to the cafe that she is working in. She checked in. It was another day of dealing with customers. She got used to people the daily conversations that felt like a transaction. Few minutes before she left, a young man walks in. He tried to make her life difficult with asking so many questions about the city and the place. She asked him to make his mind and order. She had no idea that, this would lead to shouting, that ended up with making a scene in the place. A moment before the owner walks in, seeing what happened and asking her to leave. She left, sad and angry. Could not imagine that there is a worse combination. It felt like everyone in the streets are judging her and looking down at her. After the fact that, she could not make it after her parents.
It was a crowded street, and someone passes by on a hurry on bumped into her by accident. It may seem normal thing. But, at that moment it had a different weight in her mind. She picked her sister up from school and and on her way home, the day felt heavy. She reached home and in that same room, she stood at the window with nothing to throw, no defense against the city. She was wondering, if it is all in her head or, if coincidence had its way of putting things in a pattern.
