First Proper Night in the Pop Top: Sherwood River, Tasmania

We counted this night as the first night in the new pop top build as the first time was at Mums on Christmas Eve and we didn't sleep a wink because we were bitten alive by mosquitos, the entire population we believe. It was hell on earth.

So we were very pleased to have the most perfect first night in Tasmania, at a Hip Camp for ten bucks a night just outside of Devonport on a private farm by a river.

When we got there we were a bit worried as there were tons of caravans and rigs along the river and we thought there wouldn't be a nice spot to park. It is the busiest time of year so no surprise really.

We ended up driving right to the end and getting the most magical spot with the best outlook down the Sherwood. The white noise of the river was utter bliss and the view was just incredible. We regretted not staying here longer.

It rained all night and unfortunately we did have a leak which made a few things wet inside but nothing a bit of gaffa tape couldn't fix. It's expected really on the first trip in a new build. We also had issues getting the pop top down but it was a matter of tightening some bolts at the front and it was all right again.

Honestly we couldn't have had a better place for our first night.

If you are ever in Devonport fresh off the ferry, have a look at Sherwood River camp for the night. You do need to be self contained as there are no toilets but we had our portable compost loo so we passed the self contained test.

With Love,
