CHILDREN’S SUNDAY SCHOOL LESSON 10 // SEPTEMBER 15TH, 2024.

INITIATION:
Jesus had just crossed the Sea of Galilee. A man in the crowd came and begged Him to come and heal his daughter. Jesus could not go immediately because many people flocked around Him to hear Him teach. They also wanted to be healed of their diseases.
One woman in particular delayed Jesus from going to the man’s house. She had a serious need and wanted to get help from Jesus. Today’s lesson deals with how this sick woman received her healing. She got what she wanted because of the kind of faith she had. Her faith was, indeed, very special. God wants us to exercise our faith also.

MAIN LESSON DISCOURSE:
1. THE WOMAN’S CONDITION
Jesus had been very busy healing people on the other side of the lake of Galilee. Then He crossed over by boat. As usual, a large crowd of people gathered round Him. You will remember that many people always followed Christ wherever He went; people who wanted to hear Him teach and also to be healed of their sicknesses.
At this time, Jesus was on His way to heal a little girl that was sick. The large crowd that followed Him pressed around Him. Among those in the crowd was a woman who was very sick. This woman had been sick for 12 long years. She was suffering from a terrible disease of the blood. How would you feel to be ill for 12 years?
In those 12 years, this sick woman did everything possible to become well again. She had gone to many hospitals, being referred from one hospital to another, and from one doctor to another. But unfortunately, her case remained the same. All the doctors could do nothing to help her. Instead of getting better, her condition became worse,
Moreover, the woman had spent all her money trying to get well. In fact, the Bible says that she spent all she had. This means that she spent not only money, but other things as well. This woman's condition became so bad that, in addition to being sick, she also became very poor.
2. THE WOMAN’S FAITH:
The woman must have heard about Jesus earlier and wished that she would see Him or talk to Him one day. Then she heard that Jesus was in the boat that was crossing the lake. She quickly joined the crowd and waited for Jesus to arrive. But to her dismay, when the boat arrived and Jesus came ashore, the woman discovered that she will not be able to talk with Jesus. The crowd was very much to imagine. The people were pressing and pushing on all sides. But she was determined to get to Jesus. How was she going to do it?
Suddenly, she had an idea. She decided in her heart that, if she could not get to Jesus to talk to Him. Then she would do something else. The important thing was to press through the crowd and reach Jesus. Then she would touch the hem or tip of the dress of Jesus. For she said that If she should just touch Jesus' clothes, she will be healed. She strongly believed this. Here is faith in action. Jesus was her only hope. The woman then began to struggle through the crowd and finally was able to get close to where Christ was.
3. THE WOMAN’S HEALING
On Seeing Jesus, the woman was full of excitement. She stretched out her hand and touched the tip of the garment of Jesus. Wonderful! She had made it at last! She had touched Jesus.
Do you know what happened? That very minute, the woman was healed. She felt power pass through her body like an electric current. Her days of being sick were over. The blood disease had gone. She may have felt that Jesus did not know what happened since He neither prayed for her, nor laid hands on her. But is it so? Didn’t Jesus know about the woman?
Jesus knew. He knows everything about us. As soon as the woman touched His clothes, Jesus stopped and asked: “Who touched me?” He knew that this touch was different because power had gone out of Him. This touch, was a touch of faith, When Jesus wanted to know who touched Him, the disciples couldn’t understand Him. “What do you mean?” They asked. “Many people are pushing and pressing against you and you ask, “Who touched me?” But Jesus knew what He was saying. He continued looking around and saw the woman shaking with fear. She didn’t know what Jesus would do to her. She just fell at His feet and told Him all that had happened. Jesus was pleased with her for her faith.
Jesus Christ said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. May you be peaceful and be freed from all your sufferings.
APPLICATION:
Evangelist Neche prayed for a long time that God would anoint him. He wanted to be used by God to heal the sick and deliver those who are oppressed by the devil. God answered him when he visited another country. There, he did great things for God.
Back in his own country, God began to use Evangelist Neche mightily to heal the sick. One day, he was scheduled to visit a church. When he arrived, some people were already standing around, waiting for him. As soon as he got out of his car, one man rushed forward quickly and grabbed the bag of the man of God. Everyone including Neche, was surprised. The man then explained to them that, for some time, he had been suffering from a particular sickness, He heard that Evangelist Neche was coming and he believed that if he was able to carry his bag, then he would be healed. And that was exactly what happened. As soon as he took the bag, his sickness left him there and then.
God honoured this man’s faith, just as He honoured the faith of the woman who touched Jesus.
