Namaste 🙏
Hope you all are doing great!!!
After spending a long time in Himachal Pradesh, I decided to explore the mountains of Uttarakhand state of India now. I’ve been travelling to different places of Uttarakhand state for past week now and I have many stories to share with you guys.
One of such story is about The George Everest peak hike that I did. Although it was not a very long hike as compared to the hikes I usually do, it was a completely different vibe.
Starting our journey from Park House—
When you start walking towards the trek, you need to register yourself at a counter at the Park House and also sign an agreement there to give your consent for the trek and after that you can start hiking towards the peak.
It’s a well maintained trail that’s comfortable to walk on. We also met few others fellow hikers who were hiking towards the peak with us.
It was a sunny day in the morning time but while we were hiking up, the clouds started to gather around. The mountains were slowly getting covered with the fog and this gave a super dreamy vibe to the place. We were having a great time hiking there and inhaling the fresh mountain breeze.
The trail had many surprises for us. Sometimes it took us inside woods and sometimes there was a huge cliff towards the other side. We could see the distant mountains through the fog while walking up the trail.
The trail is that led to the peak was very clean considering the amount of people visiting here daily. This is the most famous trek of this region and considering its easy trails, people of all ages visit here. The organisation maintaining this area is doing a really good job and there were many dustbins on the way along with many signs that instructed people to keep the area clean.
The cool mountain mist was striking us as we gained elevation. It was getting cold as we were hiking up. We needed to wear jackets now. We could see amazing views of the Himalayan foothills from there.
Another surprising thing was the that the trail was paved and quite wide. We were really comfortable walking on it. This trek is suitable for even old people and children.
Change in vegetation with elevation gain—
After walking for about 15-20 minutes, we noticed a sudden change in the vegetation. Now we could see some pine and deodar trees on the sides of the trail. Due to fog, we were not able to see quite far and we missed that but the fog had another kind of vibe to it that we loved. It was a kind of trade off!!!
While looking upto the sky, I could see sun shining in very low intensity before the thick layer of clouds. We came across some huge deodar tree standing tall of the edge. It was a remarkable sight to see. It looked like a perfect picnic spot. We wished that we had some delicious food with us and also a picnic mattress so that we could sit here and enjoy this wonderful moment.
We also wondered about the importance of this peak to the world geographical study as many remarkable things have been studied from here. We were climbing on the same peak where geographers lived and measured our lands.
We came across this dried out dead tree that was still standing on the cliff. It looked really dramatic with the fog in background. I couldn’t help but to capture it’s beauty with my camera.
Another thing that you’ll love about this trek is that there are a lot of stairs built on the trail on difficult parts to make them easy. It doesn’t feel like trekking while you’re walking here.
It’s been about half an hour now and we didn’t stop anywhere until now. It was not that we were tired but after looking at the mesmerising views that this trail offered us, we decided to stop for a while and rejuvenate ourselves with the scenery.
That’s all for today…! I’ll be completing my journey in tge next blog where we’ll summit this little peak.
Peace ☮️
