Just yesterday as I was uploading a video to read.cash I saw a banner ad directing me to a "noise.cash" which the notification claimed was "like read.cash, but for shorter messages." I was quite excited and decided to give noise.cash a try and see what it is all about. In this video, I will cover the basics of how noise.cash works, compare it with other social media, and give my overall impressions of the site.

Noise.cash reminds me of something of a Bitcoin Cash based Twitter. When you login to your home page, you are faced with a simple wall of short text messages.

As it currently stands, there does not appear to be any way to sort through the messages. There also appears to be no search functionality to search for certain hashtags or interests. Although the site does not yet have that functionality, it does have the ability to subscribe to users. If you happen to find a user's comment that you like in the long wall of posts, you can click subscribe. This will ensure that all of their posts show up under your "Subscriptions" tab.

Again, I realize that this functionality is extremely limited, but the site is in Alpha, so that is to be expected. If you choose to use the site at such an early point, you are certainly an "early adopter" which means that although you might have to deal with bugs and functionality issues, you also have a great opportunity to build up a presence on the site and establish yourself well before others start using it.

How it Works

Now that we have the basics of the site covered, let's get to the part that everyone is excited for - making money (or BCH in this case) :) As with many crypto social media sites, there is both a curator and creator role to be fulfilled here. When you first register for the site, you will have to create an account using a valid email , screen name and password. Once you create this account, you may be given some free tips to distribute to other users. At first, I did not have the ability to give tips, but once I clicked on my "My Posts" under my dropdown menu, I was credited with my first few cents worth of free tips to distribute.

The free tips can not be withdrawn or used for your personal benefit, but they can be given to other users. As the warning states, giving tips to interesting content will lead to the possibility of the team giving you more to tip in the future, while giving to spam comments or trying to take too much for yourself can result in not getting any more free tips to give out. At some point in the future, it appears that you will be able to tip directly from your own wallet, but this feature is not yet supported.

As far as earning for yourself, it is the same concept in reverse. You should try to make good, quality posts so that other users are encouraged to tip you out of their free tips stock. Or, at some point in the future with their own BCH. ~~At the current time, I was not able to withdraw any BCH to an external wallet. I don't know if that is because it is currently not implemented or if I just haven't received any tips yet - it is certainly not something I'm holding against such a new site but still something to be aware of. ~~ Corrected - tips directly withdraw automatically to your linked wallet which is a huge benefit!.

Comparison with Other Crypto Social Media

Overall, noise.cash reminds me of a blend of read.cash (obviously), Publish0x, and Hive. It is similar to read.cash in that you can earn the BCH cryptocurrency as well as the general appearance and layout of the website. The ability to claim a certain portion of the tip for yourself reminds me of Publish0x. Earning more "free tips" based on upvoting good content and avoiding giving spam upvotes reminds me of curation rewards that may be found in a site like Hive or DTube. The more you curate good content, it appears that you will get more free tips increasing your power on the site.

Strategy and Summary

It is critical to understand that this website is currently in Alpha. This means that there is a possibility for great rewards but also great risk. Because the site is in Alpha, a lot of the features have yet to be implemented. There may be bugs that cause a loss of crypto. At the same time, I have written many articles in which I point out that the key to success on social media is being one of the first adopters of a new platform; on the flip side, a new site could be a total flop and any time you have invested turns out to be a complete waste.

My personal strategy is to use noise.cash for a bit while recognizing the risks. If a few months go by and the site experiences huge growth, I will have set myself up in a favorable position. If the site flops, then all I will have wasted is a few minutes a day sending short crypto related "tweets". Overall, though, I am optimistic and want to see the site succeed. I like the concept, and it will be cool to have a Twitter-esque Bitcoin Cash based platform and I wish the team the best of luck.
