Mousebird action today.

A Mousebird in flight with a palm date in it's beak.

Two separate Red-faced Mousebird (Urocolius indicus) families are visiting the Palm tree here now for breakfast. The one family has about 15 members and the other family consists of 5 members. It is great to catch them on the camera early morning and late afternoon.
Come and look at the smaller family.

This guy is the male head of the family and he is the lookout for danger.

Here are the other two and you can see that their eye masks are not yet fully red.

Oh and occasionally other birds like the little Sunbird here also passes through.

Now a big problem with the palm tree in our garden is that the birds and the bats drop an avalanche of fruits on the paving below the tree. So when I walk on the paving at night my shoes squash the fruits to stick onto and color the paving.
So Mickey Mouse (me) has to sit every week with water and brush to clean the paving.
But it is worth it, because the birds love the tree.
