Solar energy is one of the renewable sources of energy many people have adopted and have run to for help, especially on this side of the world, where our power supply companies cannot be trusted. Down here, the pattern of power supply cannot be studied or understood because if you try to, they will throw you off before you know it. Today we have power supply in the morning, tomorrow we have it at night and the day after we have it at noon and then the day after there is nothing at until 4 or 5 days later, sometimes we go even two weeks with no power supply at all, there is no pattern at all and we have been forced to live with it for many years until the adoption of solar power and it has been a saving grace because it has reduced our dependency on our power supply companies.

Now many who have solar power in their house don't care how our power supply companies rationalise power supply; whether they supply or not, it is none of their business because they already have solar energy doing everything they would have needed power supply for. Solar energy has to do with harnessing power from the sun and using it for all our needs as long as the power supply is concerned. You can use this power to watch TV, charge appliances and do everything else, and this one is reliable and always available for as long as the sun exists or shines, which we know that it will always shine.

I have seen many people who go around trying to discourage people from adopting the use of solar energy, but I think it is the lack of knowledge that is causing that. The other day a woman said the solar installed in her house does not last long enough for her, and then we asked her the capacity of her lithium-ion battery, and she said it is about 15 kWh, but the truth is that for solar power to last, it depends on battery size, how it is used, what it is used for and what appliances are plugged in. That is when she started listing how she uses air conditioners, hair dryers and even microwaves, which are mostly old models and require more power to function.

Solar power is good and not bad at all, but if you want to enjoy it more, you need to let go of old appliances that are not energy efficient the moment you install solar power. Solar power requires that you purchase appliances that are energy efficient (don't need plenty of energy or power to function) and are compatible with it, and that way you get to enjoy solar energy better. Old appliances were developed with less technology and require a lot of power to function; using them on solar power consumes more power and stops you from enjoying the solar power you installed.

Also, to get solar power to last like you want, you must turn off appliances when not in use. You have to make sure that power consumption is controlled if you really want to enjoy solar power.
