The Best Donuts I Have Ever Had

What is YOUR relationship with donuts?
It seems that everyone in the world loves donuts or some iteration of it. If you visit the Pacific North West, donut shops are EVERYWHERE. Voodoo Donuts is a popular place in Portland, OR. I've even heard of those that immigrated to America who only ate their own cultures food, try donuts here, and fall in love.
But are the donuts really that amazing? Sure, they're great once in a while, but the flavor and texture is pretty ubiquitous, so if you get a donut in Los Angeles, you'll find the same quality and consistency in New York.
However, there are those that go above and beyond, and become really inventive, taking donuts to the next level.
There was this one place in my city, which unfortunately closed down.
However, they made BRIOCHE donuts... which were the most amazing donuts I've ever had.
Look how beautiful their donuts were:
Just amazing. They were light and fluffy like croissants, but not too airy. They had substance. Plus, it was sweet, but not too sweet. It was the right balance. There were even some donuts that mixed the sweet and salty, i.e. the maple bacon donut. It was almost like a Hawaiian malasada, but without the filling inside.
I really do miss this placed. Really LOVED it.
I wish I could find another place like this. Right now, the only way I can have something similar is if I made it myself... And I have ZERO donut making skills.
I found a recipe on the Food Network, but the skill level says, "Advanced"! Sad face.

I guess I have no choice, but to continue searching for a replacement donut shop. Let me know if you have a place that makes a brioche donut near you or if you get to try them. I'd love to hear how you like them.
