First things first, as a newbie the first thing you should know is that you need to make genuine connections with people to strive here on Hive or anywhere in life too.

The newbies initiative has been nothing but amazing. We had our hang-out on Sunday 3rd Dec, and we talked about building strong connections on the Hive blockchain.
Big Thanks to our speakers @depressedfuckup @starstings who made the topic interesting and talked about everything concerning how to build genuine relationships with people in the hive blockchain

for this week, I partnered with @psalmmy264, he's such an amazing guy. Hi, psalm!

I hope some newbies will be able to learn a thing or two from my post.

Just like every other social media platform, Hive is also the same but here you have total control over your account and you also earn.
Most people look at the Hive blockchain as if it's a space only for creating content and they end up not interacting with others. That's wrong.

Let's dive into our questions.

> Discuss some ways you can build strong connections on Hive, giving practical examples from your experience accompanied with screenshots

Building genuine connections is key to growth on Hive. Here are some ways you can build genuine connections with people.

  • Provide value to people in the community - what do I mean by that? I bet you would agree with me that creating quality content brings the right people to your blog. And when you create quality posts people can relate to, they will want to follow you and see more.
  • Leave meaningful comments on people's posts- We all know how annoying it is when someone says nice post, well done, great job. We're not in primary schools to be giving that sort of compliment. Only comment when you like and understand what you read and also when you have a meaningful thing to say.

Just like you talking to a friend, and he/she brings up a topic and all you can say is yes I understand what you're saying. You saying that is like you're cutting the conversation short. So instead of saying yes I understand, you could say something related to what the person said, then You'll have more to talk about

Honestly, if you don't have anything to say, upvote the post if you like it and leave. (It's not by force)😂

  • Make friends- there are so many ways you can connect with people on Hive, e.g. discord. Discord is like a hangout space for Hivers where you get to meet people and talk to them properly

Another way to make genuine connections is by extending some contest information to them.
Talk to people outside Hive- you can do this on Discord

No man is an island, we all need each other.

The more you interact on Discord, the more people will get to know you and that makes you stand out on Discord and also on Hive in that community. That way, everyone will want to watch out for you both on Hive and Discord.

> 2 Make at least 4 meaningful and detailed comments on people’s posts, and create a conversation out of the post.

> 3 What is the difference between this type of detailed engagement and short comments like “nice post”?

Making long comments gives the author and you more to talk about. While saying "nice post" gives the author nothing to talk about. The highest the person might say is thank you.

```
  1. What is something new that you’ll start doing now to connect with people and make friends on Hive?
<br />*My engagement on Discord is very poor, so I'm working on engaging more in the communities on Discord. E.g. hangouts, talking with people from the general group chat, and making quality comments on people's posts*.
Thanks for reading❤
