My Wardrobe Struggles

Getting dressed without stress takes on different dimensions for me, depending on where I want to go, who I want to see, and how time-conscious I aim to be. It often prompts me to select an outfit in advance but done in rare moments as sometimes I have a think of it but never do it until the D-Day.

When it comes to preparing for something, be it work, function, job, whatever. I tend to be quite sluggish. I might wake up at 5 AM to get ready for a 7 AM Mass, only to arrive at church a few minutes before the procession begins,if I don't make a dress selection beforehand. It is something I find very annoying but I keep repeating the same thing often that I find it hard to break. To classify myself, I'd say I'm the type that waits til the die minute to make a choice.

Although sometimes, I don't have to ransack my wardrobe for an outfit. Knowing the types of clothing I have and which ones are suitable for different occasions makes it easier for me to decide what to wear the next day but the time to make that inner thought doesn't come often, a rare thing I do. I can just see myself doing it and the next minute something else gets my mind clouded.

Out of 365 days, I can't say confidently that I do this in 40 days in a year. On days when I think I can make plans without pre-selecting an outfit, I often end up rushing and putting on something I don't feel comfortable in. There have been several occasions when I arrived late due to this hasty decision-making process.

There was a certain time a friend called me on Sunday that I should come around. I had to ask him why he didn't tell me on time so I could get ready and plan ahead. He replied with "as a lady, you have to be prepared at all time." A reply that I decided to ignore. He informed me that he wanted us to check up on his siblings before our next activity. When I checked the time, it was a few minutes past 2PM and to me, I thought there was still enough time. I had my shower and opened my wardrobe, I found myself frantically searching for an outfit suitable for the occasion.

Instances like this have occurred numerous times, leading to my tardiness. When I called him to inform him I'm on my way, he was kind of disappointed because it was minutes past the time we agreed. He had assumed I wasn't coming and had started packing up to leave. Thankfully, my call came just in time.

Selecting an outfit without prior planning can be stressful and often results in delays. When I don't take the time to plan ahead, I sometimes feel I'm not well-dressed and I don't look my best self.

Regarding the aspect of planning to change, I'm uncertain. I don't know how possible it would be for me to adopt and adapt to making preselection beforehand. I have become accustomed to combining both ways of getting dressed, and whether I change or not may depend on whether I encounter someone or something that influences me to do so.
