This hard coffee candy from Indonesia has been gaining more popularity in recent years due to their massive brand awareness campaign. This coffee candy often appears in advertisement placement around South Korean drama series. And quite a while back, Elon Musk was holding this candy and that became quite an internet sensation.

Their approach targeting South Korean who is obsessed with caffeine is a great move. Every once in a while, when I watch a series, I’d see Kopiko being subtly advertised as a replacement to take caffeine. Nowadays, people also refer this coffee as K-drama coffee. Even a few days ago, I watched it in a recent K-drama called Connection and kopiko had a few seconds appearance.

These days you can find Kopiko almost anywhere and especially around SEA. For many Indonesians, this is one of the candies that we used to grow up with. Most of us grew up eating bunch of these without knowing the caffeine content it has. But now, there’s a website listing the caffeine content for a piece of this candy is 25mg which if you eat about 4-5 of them it really is equal to half of espresso's caffeine.

This coffee candy is unlike other candies out there, it uses real coffee and if this was comparable to drinking instant coffee, it could be up to par since the ingredients are the same as most instant sugary coffee.

According to the serving size, it has 5g of sugar for 2 pieces of it. So, if you’re someone who wants to lessen your sugar intake but loves sugary coffee, this could be an option too. However, this coffee contains soy and milk so that’s something to keep in mind as well.

I can see how this candy is a convenient alternative as you don’t have to boil water, ground coffee beans, just to make a pick me caffeine. With Kopiko, it’s simply just grab and go.

I remembered back in the day they have the cappuccino flavors with bursting filling in the middle. It was one of my favorite candies. I actually stopped eating candies until today I looking for caffeine replacement that’s pretty affordable than caffeine pills. So, I got back munching Kopiko cause these days I am too lazy making another batch of coffee after my first coffee of the day😄.

It's so easy to get addicted to this candy especially if you love caffeine and sugar. I can have 4 of them in one go which is about 100g of caffeine.I could have more and used to have more especially their smaller sized packaged. However, for that one in the blister packaged, I could only have 4-5 pcs. Perhaps it's just me but the blister package packs more punch than their smaller packages.
