This is a survival and city-building video game developed by Polish studio 11 bit studios, released in April 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and later for macOS.
11 Bit Studios partnered with NetEase Games and released a port for iOS and Android titled Frostpunk: Beyond the Ice in late 2024.
Set in a post-apocalyptic world where a new ice age has covered the Earth, players take on the role of the leader of one of the last human cities, tasked with ensuring the survival of its inhabitants in extreme conditions.

The game combines elements of resource management, decision-making and strategy, challenging players to build and expand their city around a heat generator, which is vital to keeping the population alive.
As players progress, they must make difficult decisions that affect both the city's infrastructure and the well-being of its citizens.
This includes managing resources such as coal, wood and steel, as well as implementing laws and policies that can influence the morale and health of the population.
A highlight is its focus on narrative and ethics. The choices players make not only affect immediate survival, but also pose moral dilemmas about sacrifice, justice and humanity.

For example, players can choose to implement laws that allow child labor or the execution of dissidents, which creates an internal conflict about what it means to be a leader in times of crisis.
It has received several expansions that introduce new stories, scenarios and game mechanics, further expanding the experience and challenging players to adapt to new circumstances.
The sequel to the game was released in 2024 and is titled Frostpunk 2 for the macOS, Windows, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S
