It was released in 2017 for Microsoft Windows, Xbox One and Steam,1 in 2018 for macOS, in 2019 for Nintendo Switch and in 2020 for PlayStation 4. And also having a series released in 2022 on Netflix.

In this wonderful action-platformer, players embark on a visually dazzling and challenging adventure inspired by the classic animations of the 1920s and 1930s, seeking to emulate their subversive and surreal qualities.

The animations in the game were created with the same animation techniques of the time, using the rotoscope.

The story is about two brothers, the protagonists Cuphead and Mugman, who live with the old man Teapot, and who must defeat various enemies and bosses in order to settle a debt they owed to the devil.

In ‘Cuphead’, players take on the role of Cuphead, a cute character with a teacup for a head, or Mugman in multiplayer mode, as they take on a series of challenging bosses in incredibly detailed levels filled with vibrant colours.

Cuphead's unique aesthetic, which perfectly recreates the cartoon style of the golden age of animation, is a visual delight that transports players into a magical, surreal world filled with quirky characters and outlandish settings.

The Cuphead character design was taken from a 1936 Japanese animated film called Evil Mickey Attacks Japan. In this film, a fat man with a cup-shaped head transforms into a war tank.

In 2018, it was announced that the game will feature a DLC called The Delicious Last Course, which will include Ms. Chalice as a new character, new weapons, powers and a new location, as well as new bosses.3This content expansion was released in 2022.
