When we were flying back home from our Asia trip, we spent our last hours at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. We arrived much earlier than needed, so we had plenty of time to walk around and see what the place had to offer. Our flight was in the middle of the night, and because the terminal was pretty quiet at that time, we just wandered a bit without any real plan.

At some point we turned a corner and suddenly saw a Hard Rock Cafe. I honestly did not expect to find one inside the airport, so we stopped right away to check it out. We looked at the drinks menu for a moment and both of us almost laughed in disbelief. Two beers for nearly 35 USD. That hit hard. But since we still had so many hours to wait, we decided to just go for it and have a beer anyway. Sometimes you just say whatever, we are on vacation until we get on the plane.

The inside of the cafe was actually very interesting. Once we stepped in, it felt almost like a small music museum. There was the usual Hard Rock merchandise of course, but also a lot of impressive guitars and outfits. I saw guitars connected to bands like Pearl Jam and Peter Gabriel. There were also stage outfits worn by Mick Jagger, Ed Sheeran, and even my personal favorite, Jimi Hendrix. Seeing those items up close was really special, because you rarely get the chance to look at music history like that while waiting for a flight.

Outside at the bar they had a full Pearl drum kit that belonged to the Red Hot Chili Peppers. It looked amazing with all the details and the wear from real performances. Stuff like that always catches my attention, and it made the long wait much more enjoyable.

If you ever pass through Kuala Lumpur Airport, I honestly recommend stopping by the Hard Rock Cafe there. Even if you do not want to drink anything at those airport prices, it is still worth a visit just to look at all the instruments and outfits. It was a nice little surprise at the end of our trip and made the airport wait a lot more fun.
