Given @ifarmgirls proposal, the first thing that came to my mind was: what am I going to talk about? I've never been good at business. But I am a mother, I have three children and a home that I have known how to maintain and defend with my hands.

I live in a country where shortages and economic imbalances are part of everyday life. I work as an editor and have published some books of poetry, but that only feeds the soul and, paraphrasing the Cuban writer Onelio Jorge Cardoso, "man has two hungers".

When you have a home that depends on you, when you have to be the person who brings bread to the table, you grow; You understand that it doesn't matter if you are good or bad at undertaking something. Personally, at one stage in my life, I made sweets to sell to palates; Later I had the opportunity to make decorations for a gift shop and I discovered craftsmanship skills that I didn't know about. I spent entire nights and even early mornings dedicated to it, because I had to fulfill the orders.

Today I rent space; That is to say, since I live in a large and very central house, my living room and parlor became a hair salon for which I receive monthly rent. Over time, I have understood that the important thing is not whether you are good or bad at something; The important thing is to try and put your best effort into it.

The second question leads me to remember years in which time was not a problem and I liked to go to the gym with friends, but I did it to spend time with them. I've never really been much of a sports fan; I always preferred to stay at home accompanied by a book, but they say that "if you don't want broth, you give two cups".

Life gave me Dylan, my son, who—as my friends say—is a roadrunner. So my long walks are with him; Sometimes we also go to the sports field together, but I must confess that I prefer to stay in the shade while he takes a lap of the track.

Ante la propuesta de @ifarmgirl, lo primero que vino a mi mente fue: ¿de qué voy a hablar? Nunca he sido buena para los negocios. Pero soy madre, tengo tres hijos y un hogar que he sabido mantener y defender con mis manos.

Vivo en un país donde las carencias y los desbalances económicos son parte de lo cotidiano. Trabajo como editora y he publicado algunos libros de poesía, pero eso solo logra alimentar el alma y, parafraseando al escritor cubano Onelio Jorge Cardoso, «el hombre tiene dos hambres».

Cuando tienes un hogar que depende de ti, cuando toca ser la persona que lleva el pan a la mesa, creces; entiendes que no importa si eres buena o mala para emprender algo. En lo personal, en una etapa de mi vida, elaboré dulces para vender a paladares; más tarde se me presentó la oportunidad de confeccionar adornos para una tienda de regalos y descubrí en mí habilidades para las manualidades que desconocía. Pasé noches enteras y hasta madrugadas dedicada a ello, pues debía cumplir con los pedidos.

Hoy rento espacio; es decir, como vivo en una casa amplia y muy céntrica, mi sala y mi saleta se convirtieron en una peluquería por la que recibo el pago de un alquiler mensual. Con el tiempo, he entendido que lo importante no es si eres buena o mala en algo; lo importante es intentarlo y poner en ello tu mejor esfuerzo.

La segunda pregunta me lleva a recordar años en los que el tiempo no era problema y me gustaba ir con amigas al gimnasio, pero lo hacía por pasar el rato con ellas. Realmente nunca he sido muy amante del deporte; siempre preferí quedarme en casa acompañada de algún libro, pero dicen que «al que no quiere caldo, se le dan dos tazas».

A mí la vida me dio a Dylan, mi hijo, quien —como dicen mis amigas— es un correcaminos. Así que mis largas caminatas son con él; a veces también vamos juntos al campo deportivo, pero debo confesar que prefiero quedarme a la sombra mientras él le da una vuelta a la pista.
