"Ilsa: She Wolf of the SS" is a 1975 Canadian exploitation film directed by Don Edmonds and produced by David F. Friedman. The film stars Dyanne Thorne in the title role, who plays Ilsa, a sadistic and sexually voracious Nazi prison camp commandant. The film is loosely based on Ilse Koch, a convicted war criminal and overseer at the Buchenwald concentration camp.
The plot revolves around Ilsa, who conducts "medical experiments" at a death camp to prove that women can withstand more pain and suffering than men. The film is a combination of softcore sleaze and hardcore violence, featuring scenes of torture, sexual exploitation, and brutality. Ilsa's sexual appetites are matched only by her lust for brutality, and she chooses male camp prisoners to have sex with.
Despite being critically derided, the film has a cult following, largely due to the lead character's endurance and Thorne's camp performance. The film was followed by three sequels: "Ilsa, Harem Keeper of the Oil Sheiks," "Ilsa, the Wicked Warden," and "Ilsa, the Tigress of Siberia".
