Combining Tradition and Modernity: A Review of the Benchmade Proper Pocketknife

The Benchmade Proper Pocketknife is a modern interpretation of a traditional slip-joint knife. Despite being Benchmade's first slip-joint creation, it's packed with features like a high-quality S30V steel blade, G10 handles, and phosphor bronze washers. The blade is approximately the same length as the Delica and fits nicely in hand, making it a comfortable carry. The Benchmade Proper is quite ambidextrous and legal in many places due to its blade size and non-locking nature. It's also disassembleable, allowing for easy maintenance.
However, this pocketknife isn't without flaws. The blade grind could be thinner, and the absence of a slip or clip might make carrying inconvenient for some. The back lock is less than perfectly smooth, and the nail nick design may not appeal to everyone. Its action might also not impress traditional slip-joint users, and the pricing at $120 might also deter some. Nevertheless, the Benchmade Proper Pocketknife showcases the potential of blending traditional and modern designs while providing a solid option in the slip-joint category.
