A Hoch-Ybrig weekender

Earlier in the week I was posting already about
to get from Holland to Switzerland when you are carrying a lot of stuff. This was because I was carrying a lot of skiing equipment to hit the slopes with it in central Switzerland. A small area where I have been a lot of times already before but which never gets old.I was on my way to the Hoch-Ybrig region, a small area with around 50 kilometers of slopes. Not enough for a week of riding if you are experienced, but actually perfect for a weekender.

With two accesspoints to get on the mountain it hardly ever feels crowded here. You can either take the cable car in Weglösen to get up, but the last one goes at 1700 or you need to take an additional chairlift up to take a black piste down (which if you are like me you are always too late for this), or there is a chairlift access in Laucheren as well. Here it doesn't matter which time you want to exit, there is always an accessable route down, so no headaches.

Would I call region one for advanced riders? No I would not, but actually there are also decent off piste riding options which are not on the too steep angled slopes, if you are worried about avalanches. Sure there is always a risk of avalanches, but with some fresh powder there are good options to go safe.
Bur apart from this Hoch-Ybrig just has some fun rides between the trees but also with the nicest views around. Einsiedeln high platform is known for its good weather and it is mostly always above the clouds which tend to hang above Zürich and Luzern.
Just wait for the weather to clear up and you will always get some good views and a little sunkiss to the face

For food there are plenty of little huts on the mountain where some of them you can still only pay cash (which I tend to forget sometimes). Dont expect traditional apres ski like you know from Austria, but there are enough options to catch a beer for where your day is over.
For me I would rather spend this at home in a relax kind of setting. Make a wood fire, heat up some cheese and veggies, and make a traditional cheese fondue.
That is what I call a decent weekender.
