No Man's Sky: a screenshot showcase as I create my Salt Mines!

Over the weekend I worked on getting buckets upon buckets of salvaged data modules buried beneath the ground on various planets so that I could purchase a bunch of blueprints on the Anomaly.

And while I did so, I took the opportunity to admire my environs and the creatures that surrounded me and photograph a bunch of things.

The above creature is a native on my current Home Planet. It's some form of praying mantis crossed with a land-octopus and beholds great crab pincers. Luckily, he's friendly.

Whilst on my journey to find secret data to salvage, I also came across a few broken ships to claim for my own and proceeded to zoom them up to the space station to melt them down into credits, a whole lot of credits.

With my newfound credits I was able to afford a new ship and new multi-tool! Woo!

I'm a little disappointed with my new multi-tool however. It was the best one I had seen in several system-jumps so just rolled my eyes and grabbed it. Obviously the very next two I came across were fully slotted out and I had already spent materials to install things in my new one so didn't want to waste it.

It's okay. I'll find another fully-slotted one at some point. When I'm in a position to not worry about wasting resources.

I also thought that I'd try a couple of mods in this playthrough.

Nothing drastic. But I've come across this issue where suddenly textures won't load. Every other time I've played this it's been fine! But now, sometimes, I'll just be roaming around a planet then suddenly as I enter a new area most textures fail.

So I downloaded a mod called Fine LOD ~ Available at Nexus Mods ~ and so far there seems to be an improvement. Thankfully.

I was also looking for a water texture mod because the water in this game looks so unrefined. Unfortunately, there were none that I really liked. There was one that hadn't been updated in a few years which looked perfect, but was incompatible now after all this time.

On my adventures I also found these ancient ruins!

In the ruins are a couple of knowledge stones that allow you to learn a couple of words in alien languages, but also a special thing. That thing gives you the option to learn yet another word of the language, or you could choose to discover more secret knowledge.

Happy with my rate of language-learning already, I decided to find the secret knowledge of the Gek and was led towards another ancient ruin. An ancient ruin where I found some keys buried beneath the ground and an ancient crate that required the keys to be opened.

Inside was an artifact worth 2 million credits.

Woo!

After spending a few hours exploring ancient ruins and various planetary archives, digging beneath the ground for data and assorted treasure, and improving my linguistics, it was time to buy all the blueprints and set forth upon the salt planet where my mining operation would commence.

Somewhere on this ball of snow and ice was the perfect spot to construct the salt farm. I just had to find it.

Thankfully, after four terrible quality hotspots for copper, I found an S quality hotspot just for salt! Nearby was a C-grade hotspot for my power generation. Not the best, but I wouldn't complain. It was nearby!

So I farmed up all the copper I could to transform into chromatic metal, and I farmed up all the ferrite dust so I could make a bunch of metal platings.

My Salt Farm is at last underway!

I'm a little disappointed that it's located on the side of a massive hill. I wanted to create a nice, neat and tidy symmetrical factory-looking thing... but I was thwarted by the terrain.

I'll need to create some more generators and mining utilities and completely crowd this area when I have a few more materials and resources. I must mine ALL of the salt! And transform it all into chlorine! And profit immensely!

The profits aren't great for later game, but for the beginning of your journey it's pretty good.

With the mining underway and my storage containers filling to the brim, I could go forth on more adventure! Hooray! Now that my first goal of creating my Salt Mining Operation is mostly complete (bar a few more extractors), my next goal was to increase my exosuit capacity. Which would mostly involve hopping from system space station to the next.

I still need to find more salvaged data modules so I can buy more blueprints, and of course, I need to do things to get Nanites so I can upgrade all my stuff to the best it can be.

Then I might think about going forward on the main quest for the Atlas. xD
