Binance helps countries with Bitcoin reserves, crypto policies, says CEO

Binance is actively advising multiple governments and sovereign wealth funds on establishing strategic Bitcoin reserves and formulating crypto regulatory frameworks, following the example set by the United States under President Donald Trump.

According to Binance CEO Richard Teng, the exchange has received numerous approaches from countries interested in creating their own national crypto reserves, although he did not disclose specific names.

This development is driven by the US's crypto-friendly policies, including Trump's executive order to create a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve seeded with forfeited BTC, which has inspired other nations to explore similar initiatives.

Binance's role has evolved significantly since its 2023 guilty plea to US criminal charges related to money laundering and sanctions violations, after which it paid over $4.3 billion in penalties and implemented compliance measures.

Now, nearly 25% of Binance's 6,000 employees focus on compliance, reflecting the company's shift toward regulatory alignment. The exchange is also assisting countries in crafting comprehensive crypto regulations to govern digital assets, positioning itself as a key advisor in the global crypto policy landscape.

Notably, Binance's co-founder Changpeng Zhao has been appointed as an adviser on crypto policy by countries like Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan, highlighting the exchange's growing influence.

While the US remains ahead in establishing national crypto reserves, Binance is collaborating with numerous other countries considering similar moves. The company is also exploring the establishment of a global headquarters, signaling a strategic shift from its previous decentralized structure.
