My Actifit Report Card: January 4 2025

There was a project called Ice Worm, I'm not making this up, it's part of the history of the Cold War, this project was amazing, we should make a book of amazing stories from the Cold War because there are some incredible cases.

This project would consist of the base called Century Field located in Greenland being the core of a network of hundreds of kilometers of tunnels, perhaps thousands of kilometers of tunnels, with 2000 different launch points, where there would be 600 missiles pointing at Russia and that They would be moving through the tunnels so that in the event of an attack by the Soviet Union they could not neutralize them all, so the Soviets would not know where the missiles were at any time they could move from one side to the other.

It also had another strategic advantage and that is that it would remove the problem of the United States military objectives from inhabited areas and take them to an uninhabited area far from the American cities to Greenland, that is, in case of conflict the Soviet Union would have to use part of its nuclear weapons, not to attack cities but to attack that colossal base that would be in Greenland, that would be the strategic idea.

The project was not developed in the end and ended up being abandoned, but this does not mean that this base is not dangerous because it is believed that there is at least a large amount of toxic waste, about 200,000 liters of fuel are estimated to still be there and about 24 millions of liters of waste ranging from human waste from human activity to toxic liquids from the equipment they worked with and radioactive substances, so this base is still a danger.
